Skies are partly cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are quite cold ranging from the upper teens in the Clifton area to the low teens further inland, gusty west-northwest winds are bringing wind chill values down to near zero. Be careful walking and driving this morning as there is considerable ice and snow on untreated roads and sidewalks.
Yesterday we only received half of the anticipated snow accumulation with 10 inches falling, a shallow warm layer about 3000 feet caused the snow to change to sleet during the heaviest part of the storm, however well inland across the Poconos and the Hudson Valley reported over 20 inches of snow.
Today we will have variable amounts of clouds and there is a good chance of some snow showers especially in the afternoon which may cause a coating of more snow and it will be windy with gusts up to 30 mph and along with temperatures staying below freezing will cause wind chills to be only in the single digits.
Dry and cold Thursday and Friday with a slight moderation in temperatures.
A low pressure system is likely to give us some light snow changing to rain on Saturday.
Continued below temperatures into at least the early part of next week.

SATURDAY – MAR 18 – Cloudy with snow likely in the morning changing to rain in the afternoon, high in the low 40s.
SUNDAY – MAR 19 – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.
MONDAY – MAR 20 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.
TUESDAY – MAR 21 – Mostly cloudy in the morning then partly sunny, high in the upper 40s.
MARINE FORECAST: Gale warning in effect till 1 a.m. Thursday morning for west winds gusting to 40 knots, seas 5-8 feet.
OUTLOOK – Small craft conditions on Thursday; No advisories expected for Friday and Saturday with small craft advisories again likely on Sunday.
