FRIDAY MARCH 10, 2017  6:05 A.M.,

Skies are cloudy early on this Friday morning and snow flurries have begun in the Clifton area, further inland snow has accumulated to more than an inch, temperatures are falling and range from the upper 30s in the Clifton area to the upper 20s further inland, winds are from the north around 10 mph.

Snow will continue to fall and possibly become moderate to heavy at times, accumulations are expected to be in the 3-5 inch range, most of the snow will fall this morning with some snow showers possible this afternoon, winds will pick up from the north and temperatures will fall through the 30s.

Unseasonably cold air with dry conditions this weekend into the day on Monday, daytime highs will struggle to reach the freezing mark each day with lows well down into the teens, winds will be strong on Saturday but diminish Sunday and Monday.

A strong coastal storm is expected to develop off the Virginia coast Monday night and rapidly intensify as it moves up the coast, snow is likely to develop late Monday night and continue heavy at times on Tuesday and then taper off to snow showers Wednesday morning, snow accumulations may be significant with a foot or more of snow possible.

Dry and unseasonably cold weather for Thursday.

TUESDAY – MAR 14 – Snow likely and windy, significant accumulation possible, high in the low 30s.

WEDNESDAY – MAR 15 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers in the morning, windy, high in the mid 30s.

THURSDAY – MAR 16 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 30s.

MARINE FORECAST:  Small craft advisory in effect for north-northeast wind to 30 knots, seas 3-5 feet.  Gale warning will be in effect from 6 p.m. this evening until 7 a.m. Saturday Morning.

OUTLOOK – Small craft conditions expected on Saturday;  no advisories expected Sunday through the day on Monday; gales possible Monday night through Tuesday.

THURSDAY MARCH 9, 2017   5:58 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear on this Thursday morning and temperatures once again are very mild with readings ranging from the low 50s in the Clifton area to the mid 40s further inland, winds are brisk out of the west.

Today we will have plenty of sunshine ahead of a cold front, temperatures will rise well up into the 50s but it will be windy with gusts to 35 mph during the day.

The cold front will sag to our south tonight and a low pressure will move along the front which will cause snow mostly falling in the morning, snowfall amount have been raised to 3-5 inches, Friday morning’s commute may be difficult.

A very cold but dry weekend is expected with high temperatures at or below the freezing mark and lows well down into the teens.

A stronger storm system is expected to give us a high chance of more snow on Tuesday and amounts may be significant.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 8, 2017   6:00 A.M.

A cold front is currently moving through the area accompanied by showers and windy conditions, temperatures have started off quite mild with readings ranging from the mid 50s in the Clifton area to the low 40s further inland.  A wind gust of 35 mph was just recorded on my station as the front comes through and temperature fell 10 degrees in a half of an hour.

Showers will end this morning but it will be windy, temperatures may drop into the 40s this morning but with sunshine high temperatures may rise to above the 60 degree mark.

Tomorrow looks to be a mild and dry day but breezy, another cold front should cross the area Thursday night.

A disturbance on the front will likely give us rain changing to snow on Friday morning, accumulations should be in the 1-2 inch range.

The weekend will again be very cold but the disturbance that we have be following should be too far south to give us any precipitation.

A stronger low pressure may give us some significant rain, snow or a wintery mix on Tuesday.

TUESDAY MARCH 7, 2017   6:02 A.M.

Skies are cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and there is a little light rain or drizzle falling in parts of the area, temperatures are nearly 15 degrees warmer than this time yesterday with readings ranging from around 40 in the Clifton area to some low 30s further inland, winds are mostly calm.

A frontal system moving into the area will cause periods of light rain mostly this morning, there may be a break in the precipitation this afternoon but more showers are likely tonight as a cold front crosses the area, temperatures will be mild with highs well up into the 50s.

Tomorrow will be dry, breezy and continued quite mild.

Thursday will continue to be dry and only slightly cooler ahead of another cold front that will come through at night.

Colder air will push down from Canada for Friday through the weekend with a couple of snow chances, one on Friday morning that may give us a couple of inches and another low pressure system on Sunday however this storm may stay to our south and not give us any snow.  It will be unseasonably cold through this period but not as frigid as what we experienced last weekend.

MONDAY MARCH 6, 2017  5:50 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Monday morning and the temperatures are not quite as frigid as yesterday morning as readings range from the low 20s in the Clifton area to around 10 in some of the colder inland valleys, winds are mainly calm.

The Arctic high pressure that gave our area the frigid temperatures over the weekend is now moving offshore and a light return flow will bring milder air into the region today along with increasing cloudiness, high temperatures will be 5-10 degrees higher than what was recorded yesterday along with light winds.

A frontal system approaching from the west will give us a chance of rain showers mostly falling Tuesday afternoon and night, temperatures will rise to well above normal.

Clearing on Wednesday with continued mild temperatures.

Colder air will move in for the end of the week along with a chance of light snow or rain on Friday.

A stronger low pressure system is expected to move into the area over the weekend which may give us a significant snowfall, the best chance of snow at this time would be from Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning but since it is a few days away details on this potential storm will probably change.
