Skies are mostly clear early on this Tuesday morning and there is a wide range in temperatures with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 42 in Clifton down to 24 at Pequest. Winds are mainly calm.

High pressure will give us another nice mid December day today with mostly sunny skies, mild temperatures and light winds. There is a weak cold front that will cross our area this afternoon but with no precipitation expected.

Wednesday will have more clouds as a weak warm front approaches our area but high temperatures will once again be in the 50s. The warm front may cause a shower Wednesday night.

Thursday should be the mildest day of the week as a warm front moves to our north and a brisk southwesterly flow develops, highs will be in the low 60s.

Friday again will be a nice and mild day with temperatures a bit lower than on Thursday.

After a dry and mild day on Friday rain is expected on Saturday followed be clearing and cooler weather for Sunday.

Some models are indicating a possible coastal storm for next Tuesday which will give us a chance of rain or snow.

High pressure over Virginia will give our area a brisk southwest flow of mild air. Early clouds will give way to sunny skies by later this morning.

Mild Tuesday and Wednesday with less wind than today.

A weak warm front will approach the area Wednesday night that may cause a light shower.

Quite mild on Thursday and a weak cold front may touch off shower at night.

High pressure will dominate our weather on Friday with slightly cooler air.

A storm system will likely give us some rain on Saturday followed by dry and cool conditions for Sunday.

Note: 61 years ago today our area received nearly two feet of snow, it is the earliest snowstorm I remember, I especially liked the three days off from school.

After record warmth yesterday we will be cooler today but at least we will see some sunshine as high pressure builds toward our area from the southeast states. Winds will be brisk especially this morning. High temperatures will be near 50 degrees which is still 5 degrees warmer than normal.

An unusual quiet weather pattern for mid December this week with dry conditions and mild temperatures. Most highs will be in the 50s but may reach the 60s on Thursday.

The next chance of showers will be on Saturday as a cold front approaches our area.

A warm front will move north of our area this morning associated with some scattered showers. We should see a break in the rain this afternoon and a strong southerly flow will develop sending temperatures to record levels with highs well up into the 60s. The record high in Clifton was 62 set in 2015, the record for Newark is 65 set in 1971 and the record for Central Park is 64 set way back in 1879. A cold front will pass by our area this evening with showers developing. Winds with the front may gust to 45 mph and a wind advisory is in effect.

Much quieter weather for Sunday with cooler temperatures, winds will be brisk in the morning but diminsh in the afternoon.

Dry and mild weather is still expected next week with most highs in the 50s but be in the 60s on Thursday.

Weak high pressure just offshore will give us a milder day today with a light southerly flow. Skies will start off mostly cloudy but become mostly sunny by this afternoon.

A warm front will move to our north Saturday morning associated with some light showers and followed by a strong southerly flow of very mild air, record highs are expected over much of the region. Most of the day will be dry but a cold front will likely give us more showers Saturday evening along with strong northwest winds and cooling temperatures.

Sunday should be a sunny day and it will be cooler, but highs should still be slightly above normal. Winds will be brisk in the morning but lower in the afternoon.

Much of next week will be dry and mild with most highs in the low 50s, Thursday may be our warmest day of next week with a high near 60.
