Good morning!

Skies are cloudy early on this Saturday morning and there is some light rain falling over portions of the area, temperatures are mild with readings ranging from the low 40s in Clifton down to the mid 30s further inland, winds are light.

A low pressure area will be moving offshore today with periods of rain likely with the heaviest rainfall expected to our east, rainfall amounts will be around 1/2 inch in our area. Temperatures will remain mainly in the 40s.

High pressure will build in for Sunday as a weak cold front moves through the area, it will be mild but it will become windy.

Much cooler air moves in Sunday night into Monday as high pressure builds in from the north, high temperatures on Monday will only be in the middle 30s.

Another storm system will give us precipitation Monday night into Tuesday morning, the precipitation may be mixed with snow and sleet at the start but then change to all rain.

Fair weather returns on Wednesday and should last through the rest of next week, temperatures will be seasonably cold.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Friday morning and temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton down to the low 20s further inland, winds are light or calm.

High pressure moving through the area will give us a rather pleasant day for early January with mild temperatures and light winds. We should see an increase in cloudiness this evening.

A low pressure system moving into the area will give us rain mainly falling from late tonight through tomorrow afternoon, rainfall amounts will average about an inch.

Sunday looks to be a dry day with seasonably mild temperatures as high pressure builds into the area.

Monday should be dry and somewhat colder but another low pressure system will likely give us more precipitation late Monday night into Tuesday, the precipitation may start off as a wintery mix but change to all rain.

Fair weather returns for the rest of next week with seasonably cold temperatures.

Skies are cloudy across the area and temperatures are mild ranging from the upper 30s in Clifton down to the low 30s further inland, winds are mainly calm. We had a brief shower overnight but with the milder air only rain was reported.

The weak disturbance that caused the light rainshower overnight will move offshore as high pressure builds in, we should remain dry today but skies will be mostly cloudy, winds will become a little brisk by this afternoon.

High pressure will give us a nice day on Friday with some sunshine and continued mild temperatures.

A stronger low pressure is expected to give us rain on Saturday beginning before dawn and continue into the evening, rainfall amounts may be close to one inch.

Dry weather with seasonably mild temperatures Sunday and Monday but another disturbance may give us precipitation again falling mostly as rain but may start off as a mixture of rain or snow.

Our skies are partly cloudy early on this Wednesday morning with temperatures ranging from the low 30s in Clifton down to the middle 20s further inland, winds are light or calm.

High pressure will give us a partly sunny day today with much lighter winds than yesterday, temperatures will reach the low 40s which is slightly above normal for this time of year.

A weak disturbance will likely give us some light snow across the area overnight, accumulations will be a dusting to maybe a half of inch. Any accumulations will quickly melt as sunshine returns during the day on Thursday along with mild temperatures.

Friday will be a dry and seasonably mild day.

Another stronger disturbance will give us a chance of rain on Saturday followed by dry and mild weather for Sunday.

After a dry Monday yet another system may give us rain or snow on Tuesday.

CLIFTON CLIMATE SUMMARY:

DECEMBER 2018 – The month averaged 2.8 degrees above normal. Highest temperature – 59 degrees recorded on the 21st. Lowest temperature was 19 degrees on the 8th. Precipitation was well above normal with 7.38 inches which was the 3rd wettest December since my records began in 1973.

ANNUAL 2018 – The temperatures for the year was around one degree above normal. Highest temperature was 99 degrees set on July 2nd, while the lowest was a frigid one degree above zero recorded on January 7th. It was a very wet year with 72.2 inches falling which was the second wettest since my records began, the wettest year was 2011 with over 75 inches.

Good morning and Happy New Year!

Skies are cloudy early on this New Year’s Day and temperatures are quite mild ranging from the low 50s in Clifton to the mid 40s further inland, winds are gusty out of the southwest. Last year at this time it was a bitterly cold 3 degrees so we are 50 degrees warmer than that reading now.

A low pressure over Lake Ontario will be moving into eastern Canada while a cold front crosses the area this morning. Winds will increase behind the front gusting at times to 45 mph and a wind advisory has been posted. Temperatures starting off in the 50s this morning will slowly fall into the 40s this afternoon but the wind will make it feel colder.

High pressure will then build into the area on Wednesday giving us a seasonably cold day with plenty of sunshine and much less wind than today.

A weak disturbance may give us some very light snow Thursday morning that may give us a dusting of snow but then skies will clear and with highs in the 40s it will melt any snow that has fallen.

Dry on Friday but another stronger low pressure is expected to give us some rain on Saturday followed by dry weather on Sunday, temperatures will be seasonably mild.

Looking ahead there is no bitterly cold weather with any widespread snowstorms through the middle of January.
