Dry and very cold today, unsettled weather tomorrow into Monday!


It is a frigid morning with temperatures ranging from around 5 in the Clifton area to some below zero readings in some of the colder suburbs, skies are clear and the winds are nearly calm.

Today will be a partly sunny day with cold temperatures.

Increasing clouds tonight and not as frigid.

Saturday will be cloudy with some light snow or flurries with no accumulation.

It now appears that Sunday will be warmer with light snow changing to rain as an cold front stays to our north.

The front will move to our south on Monday with colder temperatures and we will have a mix bag of snow, sleet and freezing rain, at this time accumulations will be minor.

Clearing with seasonable cold temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Another Arctic cold front may give us some snow showers on Thursday followed by a return of frigid conditions next Friday through the weekend.

Arctic cold front crossing the area with a little snow followed by frigid air tonight! More significant snow likely over the weekend into early next week!


Skies are cloudy at 5:30am this morning and temperatures are ranging from the low 30s in the Clifton area to the upper 20s in Northwest New Jersey, winds are light southwesterly.

An Arctic cold front will be crossing the area this morning, a band of light snow that is in Eastern Pennsylvania early this morning will be moving through our area shortly that may accumulate to just under an inch.  Skies will clear this afternoon, the winds will pick up and it will become much colder with temperatures falling to around 20 by sunset.

Tonight will be frigid with lows in the single digits and below zero in the colder suburbs.

Friday will be cold and dry.

A cold front will be settling through our area on Saturday and to our south on Sunday, there will be a chance of a little light snow on Saturday but snow will be more likely Sunday and Monday with even a chance that the snow will continue on Tuesday.  It is likely that 6 inches of snow will fall over this time  period.

 

 

Clearing and seasonably cold weather expected on Wednesday.

Milder today; Arctic front Thursday morning with a little snow; More significant snow likely Sunday into Monday!


Skies are cloudy at 6am this morning and temperatures are around 20 degrees in Clifton ranging to some single digits in some of the colder valleys, winds are nearly calm.

A weak warm front will cross the area this morning accompanied by cloudy skies and a chance of a couple of flurries, not as cold today with highs reaching close to 40 degrees.

An Arctic cold front will cross the area on Thursday morning which is likely to give us a brief band of snow that may accumulate to about an inch.  Gusty northwest winds will follow the front along with a return to much colder air, temperatures may fall to the single digits by Friday morning.

Friday will be a dry but very cold day.

Slightly moderating temperatures for the weekend but snow will be likely starting on Sunday which may last until Tuesday, at this point it is difficult to guess on snow accumulations but they may be significant.

SATURDAY – Partly sunny and not as cold, high in the upper 30s.

Frigid today, milder on Wednesday, little light snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning!


Skies are mostly clear early this morning and temperatures are very cold with readings around 10 degrees in the Clifton area to the single digits in the colder suburbs, winds are from the west 5-10 mph.  Be very careful when heading out this morning since there will be slush and black ice on untreated roadways and sidewalks.

Today will be a mostly sunny day with very cold temperatures, tonight we will have increasing cloudiness with low temperatures around 10 degrees higher than this morning.

Milder on Wednesday as winds become southwest, we may even come close to the 40 degree mark.

An Arctic front will cross the area on Thursday morning likely accompanied by some light snow, at this time accumulations should be an inch or less.

Frigid weather again for Thursday night and Friday but we will be dry.

Slight moderation in temperatures for the weekend but a more significant storm may affect our area with snow Sunday and Monday.

Snow sleet and rain for this Groundhog Day followed by Arctic blast tonight!


At 6am this morning we have snow mixed with sleet falling and the temperature is just below freezing at 31 degrees, winds are from the east, overnight accumulation is around 5 1/2 inches.  The rain/snow line is just south of our area, down the shore only plain rain is falling and temperatures are in the low 40s.

Today we will see a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain changing back to all snow before ending late this afternoon or early evening, an additional 2 inches may fall.  Arctic air will be rushing in behind the storm and temperatures will fall rapidly tonight so any standing slush will freeze solid on untreated roads and sidewalks.

Tuesday will be dry with very cold temperatures.

Not on cold on Wednesday but another Arctic front will be moving through giving a chance of snow showers Wednesday night into Thursday.  A storm system is expected to develop off the Virginia coast Thursday night but at this time should stay south of us.

Much colder again on Friday with temperatures moderating slightly for the weekend with no precipitation expected.

TONIGHT – Cloudy early then becoming mostly clear, breezy and much colder, low around 12.

WEDNESDAY – Cloudy and not as cold, high in the upper 30s, chance of snow showers at night.

JANUARY 2015 CLIMATE DATA.

January temperature was 26.8 degrees which was 2.5 degrees below normal.  Precipitation was slightly above normal with 4.61″.  Snowfall was also a bit above normal with 14.2 inches accumulating.      The months high temperature was 53 degrees on the 4th with lowest reading of 4 degrees on the 8th.

 

Why did Seattle pass that ball?

I do believe the Groundhog will see his shadow today and we will have six more weeks of winter.
