At 6am we have light snow falling in the Clifton area, temperatures are in the upper teens, winds are from the north gusting to 20 mph, accumulation of snow is around 5 inches.

Well it appears that the American model (GFS) was more correct than the trusted European as the worst part of the storm will end up about 100 miles east of what was indicated by that European model and most forecasters, me included, maybe we should of used the “shower curtain” model.   However there was an intense storm but most of the real heavy snowfall is over Eastern Long Island and Eastern New England where accumulations will be over two feet.

Today we will have periods of mainly light snow with additional accumulations of around three inches, less to our west and more to our east.  The snow will taper off later this afternoon and end this evening, temperatures will be cold and winds will continue from the north gusting to 30 mph.

Wednesday will be dry with quite cold temperatures.

A weak storm system will likely give us some light snow Thursday afternoon into early Friday morning with an inch or two of accumulation, sunshine returns Friday afternoon

At this time the weekend looks dry and cold.

Another possible storm may affect the area on Monday.

Very light snow has begun in the area, temperatures have fallen to the teens, there is a dusting of accumulation, winds are out of the northeast around 10 mph.

During the day today we will generally have just light snow with 1-3 inches of accumulation expected.

By this evening the nor’easter will rapidly intensify and snow will become very heavy at times that will continue into Tuesday morning, winds will increase from the northeast to 40 mph which will cause blizzard conditions, there is even a chance of thunder and lightning, expect an average of 18-24 inches of snow by Tuesday noontime, less to the west of the Clifton area where “only” a foot will fall, some area under intense banding may have over two feet of snow.

The storm will gradually weaken Tuesday afternoon with snow tapering off in the afternoon and ending Tuesday evening.

Sunshine returns for Wednesday with cold temperatures

A much weaker storm is likely to affect the area Thursday afternoon into Friday morning with another 1-3 inches possible.

Dry and cold for the weekend.

Frigid most of next week so the snow will stay on the ground maybe till March.

At 6am we have partly cloudy skies in the area, temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton to the upper 20s further inland, winds are from the west 5-10 mph.

Today will be a rather nice day with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures near the 40 degree mark.

Clouds will increase tonight with light snow beginning after midnight, colder temperatures can be expected with a low around 20.

Mainly just light snow during the day on Monday with an inch or two accumulating by evening.

The fun begins Monday night as a coastal storm rapidly intensifies off our coast and slowly moves up the coast, expect snow very heavy at time Monday night through Tuesday evening and with winds gusting to 40 mph blizzard or near blizzard conditions can be expected.   At the present time the American model is indicating around 18 inches of snow for our area while the European model is showing an unbelieveable 36 inches, as of now I think 18-24 inches of windswept snow is likely.

Sunshine returns on Wednesday as we dig out with cold temperatures.

Slightly milder Thursday and Friday but we may have some light snow Thursday night.

At this time the weekend looks to be cold and dry.

Early this morning we have snow mixed with a little sleet, at 6am 5.5 inches of snow has fallen in Clifton, temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton to the upper 20s further inland, winds are nearly calm.

Snow mixed with rain and sleet will continue this morning with another 1-2 of accumulation, this afternoon we should only see some freezing drizzle mixed with light snow which will end by this evening.

Sunday will be a mostly sunny day with seasonable temperatures.

Another potentially stronger storm will be moving offshore on Monday, at this time most of the snow will be just to our south and east but this will be a close call and needs to be closely watched, areas to the south and east of the Clifton area has the highest chance of a quite significant snow, at this time we will only forecast a chance of light snow.  It will be colder so if we do receive any accumulation the snow will be more fluffy unlike the heavier wet snow that has fallen today.

Dry and very cold Tuesday and Wednesday.

Not as cold Thursday and Friday and we may see some light snow on Thursday night.

The area has clear skies early this morning and temperatures range from the low 20s in the Clifton area to the teens further inland, winds are light.

Today will be a rather nice winter day with plenty of sunshine, light winds and high temperatures around the 40 degree mark.

Skies will become cloudy tonight with snow arriving shortly after midnight, the snow will continue Saturday morning and then mix with sleet and rain, total accumulations should be around 3-5 inches with the precipitation ending in the evening.

Sunshine will return on Sunday with near normal temperatures, with highs in the upper 30s.

Another storm will be moving up the coast on Monday, the computer models with this system are not in agreement yet with most guidance showing only a minor event while the American model indicates a more significant event.  The temperatures will be colder so any precipitation will fall as snow.  The timing of the event is pretty similar to Saturday’s storm with snow beginning before daybreak and ending by evening.

Much colder air will follow the storm for Tuesday and Wednesday with a slight moderation in temperatures on Thursday, dry conditions will prevail.
