Another bitterly cold morning with temperatures mostly in the single digits with many below zero readings in Sussex County, Sussex Airport is down to -9 degrees.  Skies are clear and winds are light.

Today will be the calm before the storm, good time to pick up the milk and bread, skies will start off sunny with increasing cloudiness as the day goes on.. Temperatures will remain quite cold with highs in the upper 20s.

Snow should start around 3am Thursday morning and end around 3am Friday morning.  Snow will fall heavy at time during the day and at night, likely mixing with sleet in the afternoon.. Total accumulations 10-14 inches.

Friday we dry out and it will be not as cold with readings near 40.   A weak disturbance may give us a chance of light snow showers at night.

It will be a dry and cold weekend.

Another disturbance may give us some rain, snow and sleet mix Monday night into Tuesday.

Much warmer toward the end of next week!

With clear skies and light winds there is a wide range of temperatures early this morning with readings around 10 degrees in the Clifton area to below zero in the normally colder areas, Walpack, NJ in Sussex County is reporting a chilly -12 degrees.

Despite plenty of sunshine today temperatures will only top out in the upper 20s, another bitterly cold night tonight with readings falling again to the single digits and below zero in some of those inland areas.

Cold and dry again on Wednesday.

A major snowstorm will affect the area starting before daybreak on Thursday and last through Thursday evening, accumulations should range from about 8-12 inches, less along the coast where rain may mix in and higher snow amounts inland.

Friday will be not as cold as we may hit 40 degrees to help melt some of the snowpack. There may be some rain or snow showers also during the day.

Colder and mostly dry weather for the weekend.

Finally a warming trend that should begin next Tuesday and continue through most of next week.

After picking up a little over an inch of snow last night skies have become partly cloudy and temperatures are mainly in the upper teens.

Today we will have plenty of sunshine but it will remain quite cold

Dry and cold weather will continue Tuesday and Wednesday.

Get ready for another moderate to heavy snowstorm beginning very late Wednesday night and persist through Thursday afternoon with possible accumulations up to a foot, coastal areas may mix or change to rain keeping amounts down in those areas.

A weaker disturbance will give us a chance of light rain or snow on Friday.

At the present time the weekend appears to be dry with continued below normal temperatures.

There are signs of a pattern change that would bring milder air finally into our area but we have to wait to the middle or later part of next week for that to occur..

With mostly cloudy skies temperatures in the Clifton area are in the teens with single digits over the colder areas of Northwest New Jersey.

Today skies will become cloudy and light snow will develop around 3pm and end around midnight, a light accumulation of 1-2 inches can be expected.

Cold and dry Monday through Wednesday with the coldest readings should be on Wednesday morning when single digits are expected in our area with some below zero reading further inland.

A coastal low will develop Wednesday night and move up the coast on Thursday. Still some doubt on the track of this storm and along with it the type of precipitation that we may experience, so for the time being will just say a chance of rain or snow.

Seasonably cool and dry weather for Friday into Saturday.

Today will start off sunny but with increasing clouds by this afternoon, temperatures will remain below normal, similar to yesterdays readings.

A weak disturbance will be crossing the area later Sunday into early Monday morning, we may pick up around 1-3 inches with this system.

Colder and dry weather later Monday through Wednesday.

Another stronger system will give us some precipitation on Thursday and by that time it may fall as snow changing to rain as warmer air moves into the area.

Friday we will dry out and it will be the mildest day of next week with highs in the 40s.
