Skies are partly cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 59 in Clifton down to 49 at Basking Ridge and Pequest. Winds are mainly calm and there is some patchy fog in some inland areas.

Strong high pressure centered over the Canadian Maritimes will give our area an onshore southeast flow of air. Temperatures will be near seasonable levels with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Dew points will gradually rise to the 60s by this afternoon.

Wednesday will be a mostly cloudy day with somewhat warmer temperatures and humidity. There is a chance of showers as a slow moving front to our west approaches our area. Southeast flow will become brisk in the afternoon with gusts up to 25 mph.

The slow moving front will slowly move through the area which will likely cause showers Thursday into Friday. Temperatures will be near seasonable. The humidity will continue to be on the high side on Thursday but gradually lower by Friday afternoon.

At this point the weekend looks mainly dry with near seasonable temperatures and low humidity.

High pressure will give us another nice late summer day with plenty of sunshine along with pleasant temperatures and low humidity.

Wednesday will be more humid with a good chance of showers by the afternoon as a slow moving front approaches our area.

Early morning low clouds will dissipate as the day wears on and we should see at least some partial sunshine by midday. Temperatures will be warm with highs in the 80s and it will be rather humid with dew points in the upper 60s. A weak cold front passing through tonight may be preceded by an isolated shower but most places will remain dry.

Sunday will be a little cooler and much less humid as high pressure builds into our area from the northwest.

Dry weather Monday and Tuesday as high pressure remains in control, temperatures will be near normal with low humidity continuing.

A stronger cold front will likely cause showers Wednesday into Thursday follow by clearing and cool weather for Friday.

Today’s weather will be similar to yesterday’s as a weak front is just offshore and we will continue to have mostly cloudy to cloudy skies with only a slight chance of a shower. Highs will be in the 70s and once again it will be humid with dew points in the upper 60s.

More sunshine on Saturday will produce warmer conditions and it will stay humid.

A weak cold front will cross the area Saturday night and Sunday we will continue to have mostly sunny skies but it will be somewhat cooler and much less humid.

Seasonably warm temperatures through Wednesday with the next chance of showers being on Wednesday as a stronger cold front crosses the area.

Cooler weather can be expected at the end of next week just in time for the beginning of autumn.
