Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning and there are some showers falling in parts of our area. It is once again warm and muggy with temperatures ranging from the mid 70s in Clifton down to the upper 60s further inland. Winds are calm or light southerly and the humidity is high with dew points mainly in the low 70s.

A warm front moving through our area today will cause mostly cloudy skies with very warm to hot temperatures and quite humid with dew points in the 70s. There will be a good chance of thunderstorms mainly this afternoon some of which may be strong to severe with heavy rain and strong gusty winds.

More of the same weather for Monday, but a weak cold front moving through will help drop the humidity somewhat but it still will be quite warm to hot. There will be a chance of more showers and thunderstorms mainly in the afternoon and evening.

Tropical Storm Isaias will affect our area with heavy rain on Tuesday as it moves through our area. Rainfall amounts of 3-4 inches are likely with some higher amounts. Winds should not be that strong except for possible tropical storm force winds mainly across the coastal areas.

We dry out a bit on Wednesday but there is a chance of an afternoon shower.

Mainly dry at the end of the week but a front may cause some showers on Friday, temperatures will be seasonably warm.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory has been posted effective between 4 p.m. this afternoon until 6 a.m. Monday morning for southwest winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 3-6 feet. Point Pleasant Beach’s ocean temperature is 78 degrees.

OUTLOOK – Advisories likely Monday through Wednesday as Tropical Storm Isaias moves into our area. Seas may approach 20 feet on Tuesday.

AVERAGE TEMPERATURE: 80.3 – Warmest July and warmest month since my records began in 1973. Highest temperature 97 – on the 19th ; Lowest – 66 – 1st.and 2nd. 18 days had temperatures of 90 degrees or higher – the most of any month The lowest temperature of 66 was the highest minimum temperature of any month.

PRECIPITATION: 8.08″ 3rd wettest since 1973. 3.4″ fell during Tropical Storm Fay on the 10-11th.

Today will be a pleasantly warm summer day with mostly sunny skies this morning with some increasing cloudiness late in the day. Temperatures will be slightly above normal and the humidity will be moderate.

Warm and more humid on Sunday as a warm front pushes north of our area. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms some of which may be strong.

Warm and humid on Monday with again a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

At the present time Hurricane Isaias now by the Bahamas is expected to brush the east coast of Florida and move up the east coast and be in our area on Tuesday. Rain may be heavy at times with some flash flooding possible. Winds should only reach tropical storm levels mainly across our coastal sections.

Still warm and humid as Isaias moves well to our north and east on Wednesday with still a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Mainly dry weather Thursday and Friday with seasonably warm temperatures and lower humidity level.s

Skies are cloudy early on this Friday morning and there are some light showers in part of the area. Temperatures range from near 70 in Clifton down to the low 60s further inland. Winds are mainly calm and the humidity is high with dew points mainly in the upper 60s.

Overnight rain in Clifton measured .05″ but areas around the Edison and Woodbridge area had very heavy rain with some flash flooding.

A front in our area this morning will slide to our south today and we will have mainly cloudy skies this morning with some light showers with partial clearing late in the day. Temperatures will only be around 80 which is more than 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. The humidity will remain moderate with dew points in the 60s.

Saturday will be the nicest day of this weekend with plenty of sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures and continued moderate humidity.

The front to our south will move back into our area as a warm front on Sunday which will produce more humid conditions along with a good chance of showers and thunderstorms some of which may be heavy.

Very unsettled weather Monday through Wednesday as a trough of low pressure will be along the coast and Hurricane Isaias that will be moving up the east coast. Too early for details but some heavy rain and some wind is possible in our area, so stay tuned.

Fair weather should return by later next week with seasonable warm temperatures.

One more very hot day today with plenty of sunshine and temperatures again reaching the 90s, the humidity will continue to be moderate with dew points in the 60s.

A cold front will slowly cross the area tonight with a chance of showers mainly after midnight into Friday morning, most of the showers will be just to our south. With more cloudiness on Friday and an onshore flow high temperatures will be around 10 degrees cooler than today.

Saturday looks to be the best day of this upcoming weekend with plenty of sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures.

A warm front will push through the area on Sunday with a return of humid conditions along with a chance of showers.

A trough in our area early next week will give us a good chance of showers. Also we will be tracking Tropical Storm Isaias that is now near Puerto Rico and is expected to move up the east coast.

Weak high pressure building into the area will give our area mostly sunny skies both today and on Thursday, high temperatures will still be at or above 90 but the humidity will be lower with dew points mostly in the 60s.

A weak cold front will give us a chance of showers Thursday night followed by dry weather Friday through most of the weekend. Temperatures will be seasonably warm with moderate humidity.

A front just offshore will produce some unsettled weather Sunday night through early next week with a good chance of showers though this period.
