Get ready for another 100 degree day! Relief coming by Sunday!


Another very warm and muggy night, temperatures at daybreak in Clifton fell just below the 80 degree mark.
With plenty of sunshine again today high temperatures will reach near 100 degrees and with dew points in the 70s will push the heat index to near 110 degrees.
A cold front will be approaching the area on Saturday, temperatures will still rise into the 90s with high humidity before the frontal passage. Thunderstorms are likely tomorrow afternoon into the evening, some may be strong.
Finally some relief from the heat by Sunday with mostly sunny skies temperatures will only rise into the mid to upper 80s.
Next week most highs will be in 80s but there will be chances of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday through Thursday.

Saturday – Partly sunny and humid with showers and thunderstorms likely mainly between 2-8PM, some storms may have gusty winds, frequent lightning and heavy rain, high in the mid 90s.

Heat wave continues; Another hot July 18th


According to my records July 18th has the most 90 degrees or higher temperature than any other day of the year (20 out of 40). Just last July 18th it hit 102 degrees.
With an overnight low of barely under 80 degrees we are off to the races with some high temperatures reaching 100 in some spots. Humidity will be on the rise and there will be a chance of an afternoon or evening thunderstorm but most areas will not see one.
Even more humid on Friday with high temperatures in the upper 90s heat index may be past 105 degrees. Still a chance of a scattered thunderstorm.
Most of the thunderstorm activity will be from noon on Saturday through Saturday night as a cold front slowly approaches our area. Some of these storms may reach severe levels. It will still be hot and humid.
Still a chance of showers on Sunday as the cold front slowly sags south of our area, it will be gradually cooler and less humid.
Beautiful summer weather on Monday and Tuesday with highs in the 80s.

Heat to continue through Friday with increasing humidity!


Another morning with overnight temperatures only falling to the mid 70s under clear skies.
Although yesterday was hot a northerly wind flow brought lower humidity levels into our area.
Humidity will increase again starting today and be very oppressive on Friday where temperatures will be in the upper 90s and with dew points in the mid 70s will make it feel like 110 degrees.
There is a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm on Friday but most areas will remain dry.
The most active day for thunderstorms will be on Saturday as a cold front moves toward our area, some may be strong to severe.
Some lingering rain showers into Sunday morning then clearing and becoming cooler and less humid.
Fine summer weather early next week with highs mostly in the mid 80s with low humidity.

Heat wave continues but a tad less humid today!


Under clear skies overnight temperatures again only fell into the low-mid 70s in the Clifton area, dew points have come down a couple of degrees so it is a little less steamy.
With plenty of sunshine temperatures will climb well up into the 90s but the humidity will be a little lower than yesterday.
Humidity levels will creep up on Wednesday and rise even high for Thursday and Friday and with high temperatures in the upper 90s heat indexes could rise to 105-110 degrees.
A cold front will be crossing the area Saturday evening preceded by possibly very strong to severe thunderstorms, depending on the cloud cover we can still hit the mid 90s again on Saturday.
Finally cooler and less humid weather Sunday into next week.

Very hot all this week!


Under mostly clear skies overnight temperatures only fell to the mid 70s.
A Bermuda high pressure over our part of the country will give us very hot temperatures all week long with most high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. Humidity levels will be a little lower today and even lower on Tuesday but creep back up Wednesday through Friday.
We should be rain free until the weekend.
Saturday will have the best chances of severe weather in the afternoon as the front crosses our area.
Cooler and drier air will move in on Sunday.

Get ready for another heat wave!


Overnight temperatures only fell to the low 70s with high humidity and low clouds.
The clouds are breaking this morning and this sunshine will help boast temperatures to the low 90s along with high humidity.
Look forward to 6 or 7 days in the 90s as a Bermuda high pressure builds over the area. Most areas will remain dry the next several days with the best chance of showers as we head into next weekend as a cold front approaches the area..

At daybreak this morning we have cloudy skies with a few scattered showers around, temperatures have fallen to the mid-upper 60s but it is rather muggy.
Today we will have cloudy skies for the most part with a chance of some showers and thunderstorms, some heavy rain possible in these storms, temperatures will be slightly below normal topping off in the low 80s.
Our heat wave is still on schedule to start tomorrow and last into all of next week as the Bermuda high pressure builds back of the area. Temperatures will be in the 90s each day and the humidity will rise. Most of the area will remain dry but a pop up thunderstorm cannot be ruled out..

After a brief break the heat and humidity will return by Sunday!


You will notice going outside this morning that it feels more comfortable as dew points have fallen to the low 60s which is the lowest level in a couple of weeks.
There has been heavy rain in the Washington DC – Baltimore area were 2-4 inches of rain has fallen since last night, but no rain here.
With mainly cloudy skies high temperatures today will be below normal reaching only 80 degrees.
There is again a chance of showers mainly this evening into tomorrow morning.
Clearing later Saturday evening with seasonable temperatures.
Then the heat and humidity returns as the Bermuda high pressure will again take control of our weather from Sunday through most of next week with temperatures well up into the 90s..

Another very warm and muggy night as temperatures are in the mid-upper 70s at daybreak. There are some showers around but none in the Clifton area.
Today will be mainly cloudy and humid with showers and thunderstorms likely as a cold front very slowly approaches the area.
On Friday with the front in the area it should remain cloudy with again chances of showers and thunderstorms, it will be a tad cooler and less humid.
The Bermuda high pressure system is expected to build back into our area starting this weekend.
Slight chance of shower on Saturday but no rain in the forecast for Sunday. High temperatures for this weekend should mainly be in the mid-upper 80s.
An extended heat wave is likely next week, highs in the 90s from Monday through next weekend!

Today we will have plenty of clouds around but also some breaks, showers and thunderstorms will be more widespread this afternoon and tonight that can produce heavy rain.
As a cold front moves into our area on Thursday more showers and thunderstorm activity is likely.
A little less humid on Friday with still a chance of a shower.
At this point the weekend looks mainly dry, temperatures and humidity levels will be lower than the last several days.
