Quite warm and humid Tuesday! Thunderstorm chances rise for Wednesday and Thursday!


At daybreak this morning we have mostly clear skies and temperatures around the 70 degree mark.
Today will be quite warm to hot again and slightly more humid than yesterday, a chance of an afternoon or evening thunderstorm but most areas will remain dry.
More widespread showers and thunderstorms later tomorrow into Thursday as a cold front slowly approaches the area, it will still be quite warm and humid.
A little relief behind the cold front for Friday through Sunday and again most areas will stay dry but a shower can not be ruled out.
Warmer again early next week.

A little less hot and humid! Possible thunderstorms later this afternoon!


This morning we have partly cloudy skies temperatures and dew points are lower than yesterday, overnight lows actually dipped below 70 degrees for the first time this month.
Today temperatures will be around 5 degrees lower than yesterday but still reach around 90 degrees along with a little less humidity. There will be a chance of mainly late afternoon and evening thunderstorms.
Tuesday will be similar to today with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.
More humid on Wednesday with a better chance of late day thunderstorms that will persist into Thursday.
Not as warm or humid Friday through the weekend but shower chances will remain.
It appears the heat and humidity will return by the middle of next week.
Meanwhile Tropical Storm Chantal has formed east of the Windward Islands, the forecast has it reaching the Bahamas late this week but remain below hurricane strength.

Another scorcher today! Excessive Heat Warning in effect!


Overnight temperatures only fell to the mid-upper 70s in the Clifton area setting the stage for another very hot and humid day, temperatures may reach the upper 90s with a heat index of up to 105 degrees.
There is a better chance today of late afternoon and evening thunderstorms that could produce heavy rain, gusty winds and frequent cloud to ground lightning.
Better chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday and with more cloudiness most areas will fail to reach the 90 degree mark, humidity levels will be lower than the last few days also.
Still rather warm Tuesday through Friday with a chance of showers and thunderstorms each day.
Some temporary relief as we head into next weekend but looking at the computer models heat and humidity may return for next week.

Very hot and humid weekend!


Overnight low temperatures only fell to the mid 70s with mostly clear skies. Every day so far this July the temperature has failed to fall below 70 degrees and that has never happened before to start off July in the 40 years I have been keeping records. This streak should continue the next several days.
Today may be the hottest day of the heat wave with temperatures rising to the mid 90s with high humidity continuing, only a slight chance of a thunderstorm well inland.
Sunday may be a degree less hot with chances of afternoon and evening thunderstorms increasing.
Next week will remain humid with chances of thunderstorms each day, most high temperatures will be in the upper 80s to around 90. Nights will be warm and muggy with temperatures staying above that 70 degree mark.
Finally a refreshing cold front may finally cross the area on Friday bringing relief to the heat and humidity by next weekend.

Hot and humid through the weekend!


Another muggy and warm start to the day, the temperatures only fell once again to the lower 70s.
We are starting out with clear skies and with more sunshine today will actually be a couple of degrees higher than yesterday.
Saturday could even be a degree or two higher with temperatures reaching the middle 90s.
Sunday will still be hot but there will be a greater chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.
A little less hot Monday through Thursday next week but it will still be humid, chances of showers and thunderstorms each day.
The long range computer models show a cool front coming through later on Thursday bringing relief from the heat and humidity by next Friday.

Tropical weather to continue for Independence Day!


The weather at 7am 237 years ago was a lot more comfortable in this area with temperatures in the mid 60s and a light northerly wind, the high temperature only reached the mid 70s.
This morning daybreak temperatures are in the mid 70s and the dew points are in the oppressive lower 70s.
Yesterday the dew point at my station in the evening reached 79 degrees the highest since I installed the station last spring..
Today we will have plenty of sunshine it will remain quite humid, only an outside chance of a shower well inland.
The hot and humid weather will continue the next several days as a very strong Bermuda high remains just off our coast. Most of our area will stay dry but there is an outside chance of a shower in this tropical air mass. Enjoy this Caribbean type weather mon!!

Another warm and humid morning, most areas are dry but there are a couple of showers in the Morris County area, daybreak temperatures around around 70 degrees.
Today we will have mostly cloudy skies with most break of sun will be in the afternoon, there will be a chance of an afternoon and evening shower and thunderstorm but most areas will remain dry but it will remain humid.
As the large high Bermuda high builds westward into our area we will have more sunshine starting on Independence day along with very warm to hot temperature.
Hot and humid weather will continue from Friday through at least the middle of next week, most areas will see no rain.

Another cloudy and humid day with some thunderstorms!


At 6:30am this morning it is cloudy and humid again, we had some light showers around 4am but those showers have moved to our north.
This morning will be mainly dry but thunderstorms are likely to redevelop this afternoon with heavy rain possible once again. Hopefully we don’t get the torrential downpour that caused massive flash flooding as we had yesterday morning.
Chances of thunderstorms will decrease as the week goes on as a high pressure ridge over the Atlantic builds west into our area. Temperatures will increase with more sunshine rising to near 90 on Independence day and this heat along with high humidity will last through the weekend into at least early next week.

July starting out where June left off, humid with showers and thunderstorms around!


Another warm and humid morning with cloudy skies, overnight temperatures only fell to the low 70s.
We have been missing almost all of the rain this past weekend in the Clifton area but portions of the area especially Eastern Pennsylvania, Northwest New Jersey and the Hudson Valley did have very heavy rainfall, and this morning is no exception as heavy rain is occurring at 6:30am in those same areas.
Today will feature cloudy and humid conditions with showers and thunderstorms likely, heaviest just to our west.
It will remain cloudy on Tuesday but rain chances will diminish somewhat.
As we move through the rest of the week there will be more sunshine with rising temperatures, it will remain humid with mainly just scattered afternoon and evening showers.
At this time next weekend looks to be hot and dry with those conditions continuing into early next week.
