A cloudy and humid weekend with occasional heavy showers! Flash flood watch in effect!


Good morning everyone!

Skies are mainly cloudy early this morning and there are some scattered showers in the area, temperatures range from the mid 70s in the Clifton area down to the upper 60s further inland, winds are mainly calm and once again the humidity is high with dew points around 70.

A front will be in our area this weekend causing cloudy skies along with occasional showers and thunderstorms both today and tomorrow, it won’t rain the entire time but some showers could come down quite heavy at times especially this afternoon and evening so a flash flood watch is in effect.  Temperatures will be lower than the past several days due to the clouds and rain but the humidity will be high with dew points in the low 70s.

More showers and thunderstorms  are likely Monday into Tuesday.

Dry conditions can be expected Tuesday night through Thursday with warmer temperatures and the humidity will be moderately high.

More showers are possible on Friday as another front approaches the area.

Skies are mostly fair early this morning and temperatures are lower than they have been the last several days with readings ranging from around 70 in the Clifton area down to some upper 50s further inland, winds are light and the humidity is lower with dew points mainly in the low 60s.

Today will start off sunny but a front to our west will be approaching so we should see an increase in high clouds this afternoon, it will still be quite warm with temperatures rising to near 90 but with the dew points staying in the low 60s it should be a rather pleasant summer day.   The front will cause showers develop late tonight.

Not such good news for the weekend as the front will be in our area with disturbances moving along the front.   Numerous showers on Saturday with showers likely continuing on Sunday.  Temperatures will be slightly below normal over the weekend but the humidity will rise once again with dew points approaching 70.

Unsettled weather to continue next week with a chance of showers Monday through Wednesday, temperatures will be near normal but the humidity will continue to be on the high side.

Skies are mostly cloudy early this morning and once again it is muggy and warm with temperatures ranging from the mid 70s in the Clifton area down to the upper 60s further inland, winds are mainly calm and the humidity is high with most dew points in the oppressive low 70s.    Here in Clifton we had a thunderstorm around 1:30 this morning that dumped a quick .74 inches of rain.

A cold front will cross the area today followed by a gradual decrease in humidity, it will still be quite warm with temperatures reaching close to 90 degrees but the dew points will fall into the 60s after being in the 70s much of the last several days.

Another nice day on Friday with warm temperatures and moderate humidity levels.

Unsettled weather this weekend as a front will be moving slowly into our area.   There will be a good chance of showers and thunderstorms both days along with considerable cloudiness.  High temperatures on Saturday may not rise out of the 70s and be in the low to mid 80s on Sunday.   The humidity will once again rise with dew points near 70.

Chances of showers and thunderstorms will continue early next week along with high humidity as a trough will continue to be over the area.

Skies are mostly clear early this morning and temperatures range from the low 70s in the Clifton area down to the upper 60s in some spot further inland.  Humidity remains high with dew points still in oppressive low 70s, winds are mainly calm.    Yesterday I recorded .92 inches of rain in a heavy thunderstorm between 6-7 p.m.

High pressure will be moving off the coast today as a cold front approaches from the northwest.  Another hot and humid day with temperatures approaching the low 90s and with dew points still in the 70s will again cause heat indexes to be near 100 degrees.   Thunderstorms are likely this afternoon and evening with some heavy downpours and strong gusty winds possible.

The front crosses the area tomorrow morning and although it will be quite warm the humidity will drop by the afternoon as dew points fall into the low to mid 60s.  Friday will be a nice day with warm temperatures and rather comfortable humidity.

Unsettled weather returns for the weekend into early next week as a front will be in the area.  There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms each day mainly in the afternoon and evening hours.  Temperatures will be warm but not hot as there will be considerable cloudiness.  Humidity levels will rise once again with dew points near 70.

Another hot and humid day today with temperatures reaching the 90s once again and with dew points in the low 70s will push the heat index close to 100, a heat advisory continues in effect.  There is a low chance of some afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms mostly north and west of our area.

Still quite warm and humid on Wednesday and there should be more widespread thunderstorm activity as a slow moving cold front moves into our area.

Mainly dry and warm Thursday and Friday with slightly less humidity.

Humidity returns over the weekend as well as a chance of showers as high pressure moves off the coast and a front will be in our area.  Although there will be a chance of showers this weekend it should not be a total washout.  Temperatures will be somewhat lower with more cloud cover.

High pressure today will give us plenty of sunshine  and it will be hot with highs in the mid 90s and with dew points around 70 will boost the heat index to near 100 degrees.  A heat advisory is in effect.

The high pressure will move off the coast and with a slow moving front to our west will give us a chance of showers Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday.  It will still be hot and humid both days.

The front will push to the east and Thursday and Friday look to be dry days with seasonably warm temperatures and slightly lower humidity.

Another slow moving front may give us a chance of showers over the weekend with warm temperatures and the humidity will again be rather uncomfortable.

A high pressure ridge building into our area will cause a more westerly flow which will give us more sunshine today and on Monday along with hotter temperatures, the humidity will be slightly lower than the last few days with dew points in the mid to upper 60s.  Daytime highs will reach the low-mid 90s both today and tomorrow, a heat advisory is in effect.   And for the first time in days that we will have no rain.

Shower chances increase Tuesday afternoon through Thursday as a slow moving cold front moves into the area.

Dry weather for Friday but another disturbance may touch of a shower on Saturday.

Rain has moved into the area early this morning and temperatures are warm once again with readings ranging from the middle 70s in Clifton to the upper 60s further inlands, winds are light and the humidity is high.

An area of low pressure will move through the area this morning producing rain heavy at times along with a rumble or two of thunder, some of the heavier downpours may cause some flash flooding.  The system will move to our northeast and high pressure will build into the area.  We should see some sunshine by this afternoon but there still will be a chance of a widely scattered shower or thunderstorm.

Bermuda high to our east will cause a more westerly flow of air for Sunday and Monday that will cause a slight drop in humidity but with more sunshine both days temperatures should reach the 90s.

Still hot on Tuesday but a slow moving cold front will be approaching the area will give us a chance of showers again Tuesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

Fair and warm weather with lower humidity is likely on Friday.

Skies are mostly cloudy early this morning and once again it is quite muggy.  Temperatures range from the mid 70s in the Clifton area down to around 70 further inland, dew points are in the oppressive 70s and the winds are mainly calm.

Today we will have quite warm and humid conditions once again with a good chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, temperatures will once again rise into the 80s and the dew point will continue to be in the 70s.  Strong high pressure offshore and a weak front to our west continues to pump tropical air into the area.

A small low pressure will move through the area late tonight into Saturday morning that will likely produce heavy showers and thunderstorms from late tonight into Saturday morning.  There still will be a chance of a shower or thunderstorm Saturday afternoon.  Temperatures will be warm and the humidity will remain high.

Dry weather with more sunshine and hot temperatures Sunday and Monday as winds become more westerly around the Atlantic high pressure.  Humidity levels will be slightly lower.

A slow moving cold front may give us some showers and thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday followed by possibly less humid air for the end of next week.

Skies are mostly clear early this morning and temperatures range from the low 70s in the Clifton area down to the mid 60s further inland.  The humidity has dropped a little with dew points in the upper 60s, winds are mainly calm.

Today will be quite warm and humid again and there is a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, most of this activity will be west of our area across Eastern Pennsylvania and the western part of New Jersey.  Dew points should rise into the oppressive low 70s again.  A high pressure ridge located offshore and a front to our west will continue the southerly flow of tropical air.

Warm and humid again on Friday with a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm again mainly inland.  Showers and thunderstorms will be more likely Friday night into early Saturday morning as a stronger trough of low pressure moves into the area.

After a chance of lingering showers on Saturday we should see more sunshine by the afternoon, it will still be warm and humid.

A more westerly wind will cause dry conditions but becoming hot Sunday and Monday.

A cold front is expected to give us more showers Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.

CLIFTON MONTHLY SUMMARY – JULY 2018.

Temperatures averaged 1.8 degrees above normal.   Maximum temperature was 99 degrees recorded on the 2nd.  Minimum temperature was 57 on the 8th.

Precipitation was well above normal with 7.94″ which is nearly double of the average and it was the wettest July since 2004.
