A weak warm front approaching from the southwest will give us mostly cloudy skies today along with a chance of mainly light showers, temperatures will be slightly below normal with highs in the low 80s.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely on Monday as the front moves closer to our area, some of the rain may be heavy at times. Temperatures will be near seasonable levels but the humidity will be high with dew points in the 70s.

The warm front will struggle to pass through the area on Tuesday with still a chance of showers, temperatures with an onshore wind will be slightly below normal.

Quite warm and humid Wednesday through the start of the weekend with a chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and then again Friday and Saturday.

Finally a quiet weather day today after our tropical storm and severe weather of the past few days, as high pressure builds into the area. Temperatures today will be slightly below normal with moderate humidity with dew points in the 60s. There is a slight chance of an afternoon shower but most areas will remain dry.

A better chance of showers and thunderstorms on Sunday as a warm front approaches our area, temperatures will continue to be slightly cooler than normal but the humidity will start to rise.

The warm front will move to our north on Tuesday with a continued good chance of showers and thunderstorms along this front. Temperatures and humidity will start to rise.

Hot weather the rest of the week as the Bermuda high pressure dominates our weather, although temperatures will not be as high as some of the heatwaves we have had this summer. With high humidity there will be a chance of mainly afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms each day.

Yesterday’s storms only gave my station in Clifton in the Maple Valley area .73″ of rain but not far away in Passaic and northern parts of Bloomfield received over 3 inches of rain. Also there was some large hail reported in the Westwood area.

Tropical Storm Elsa is moving off our coast and the rain from this system should end by around 9 a.m. followed by some sunshine with quite warm temperatures along with high humidity. There is another chance of scattered strong storms again this afternoon and evening but the activity should not be as widespread as yesterday.

The weekend should be overall quite pleasant with seasonably warm temperatures and moderate humidity. Saturday should stay dry but there will be a chance of showers on Sunday.

Next week the weather will be unsettled with a chance of showers mainly each afternoon or evening. Rain chances lessen towards the end of the week but temperatures should rise to 90 degrees or above Wednesday and continue through the end of the week.

Despite having a severe thunderstorm watch for yesterday afternoon and evening, we did not have any storms as most of the strong activity stayed well to our north.

Today a frontal system approaching our area will likely give us showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, some of the rain may be heavy at times.

Heavy rain tonight into Friday morning as Tropical Storm Elsa moves up the coast and just east of our area. Winds will not be an issue in our area but coastal areas may have some tropical storm force gusts. Total rainfall should average between 2-4 inches with some higher amounts possible in some areas. A flood watch is in effect.

The rest of Friday should be dry except for a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be a little above normal.

Seasonably warm temperatures will continue over the weekend, Saturday should be a dry day but showers again are possible on Sunday.

Unsettled weather into at least the middle of next week, with a chance of mainly afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms each day. Temperatures will be near seasonable levels Monday and Tuesday but we should warm up towards the end of next week.

Today will be another hot and humid day today with temperatures well up into the 90s and with dew points near 70 will bring the heat indexes to above 100 degrees. A heat advisory continues in effect. Some strong storms are possible again late this afternoon into this evening but they should not be as widespread as yesterday.

Thursday will be not as hot but it will stay humid as a front approaches our area which will likely give us showers and thunderstorms, some heavy rain is possible.

The front will continue to be in our area on Friday and moisture from Tropical Storm Elsa should give us heavy rain on Friday. Rainfall amounts Thursday and Friday will average between 1-3 inches with some higher amounts possible. The winds from Elsa will not be strong in our area but may gust to 40 mph or more along the coast.

Unsettled weather this weekend into early next week as a trough of low pressure will continue to be in our area so there will be a chance of mainly afternoon or evening showers each day. Temperatures will be seasonably warm but become hot again by Wednesday.

A weak trough will give us a cloudy day today with some showers. It will be unseasonably cool with highs only in the 60s. Not a good start for the holiday weekend but better than the Memorial Day holiday weekend when highs were only in the 40s.

The trough will move offshore on Sunday and we should see more sunshine and milder temperatures but there will still be a chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers or thunderstorms.

Monday will have the best weather of the holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine and seasonably mild temperatures.

The Bermuda high pressure will then dominate our weather for Tuesday and Wednesday giving our area a southwest flow of hot and humid air. Tuesday should be dry but there will be a chance of showers or thunderstorms on Wednesday.

The end of the week will be cooler and we have to watch for some moisture from a cold front approaching from the west along with some effects from the remnants of Hurricane Elsa.

Skies are cloudy early on this Friday morning and there are some showers in parts of the area. Temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 69 in Clifton down to 63 at High Point. The humidity is high and winds are calm or light southerly.

A slow moving cold front with some low pressure disturbances moving along the front will cause cloudy skies today along with a chance of showers and thunderstorms through this evening. High temperatures will be slightly below normal. The humidity will decrease as the day goes on with dew points in the 60s this morning falling to the 50s by tonight.

Saturday will be quite cool with showers likely through Saturday night. High temperature will struggle to reach the 70 degree mark.

Finally more sunshine on Sunday as the front moves offshore and high pressure builds into the area. High temperatures will be slightly below normal. However there is still a low chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm.

Monday will be the best day of the holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures.

Hot weather will return for Tuesday and Wednesday along with higher humidity. A cold front will approach the area on Wednesday which will give us a chance of showers.

Not as warm on Thursday with a continued chance of showers.

This June the temperature averaged 73.7 degrees which made it the warmest June since 2010 and was 3.7 degree above normal. Highest temperature was 99 on the 30th, the lowest, 49 degrees on the 23rd. This June there were 12 days of temperatures 90 degrees or above which was the most for June since I started my records in 1973, the average is 4 such days. Precipitation was slightly below normal with 3.44 inches.
