Yesterday the haze from the western fires may have kept high temperatures down a few degrees. We should still see some haze this morning but as a cold front approaches we likely will have showers and thunderstorms this afternoon Some storms may be strong to severe with gusty winds and small hail possible. We should see clearing by this evening.

After weeks of being either very hot or having rain, we should have some of the nicest weather of the summer so far with sunny skies each day along with seasonably warm temperatures and the humidity will be quite comfortable with dew points in the 50s.

More humid air moves into the area Sunday and there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday into Monday as a cold front moves through the area.

Tuesday looks to be sunny and hot but less humid as high pressure builds into our area.

Yesterday and last night we did not see any flooding rains or severe weather in the Clifton area. Total rainfall at my station in Clifton was .71″ while areas to our south in the Newark area received over 2 inches with even a tornado warning in the Woodbridge area.

Today will have much quieter weather as the cold front has moved offshore. Skies will become mostly sunny this morning but mostly cloudy this afternoon with only a low chance of an afternoon or evening isolated shower. Temperatures will be lower than the last few days with highs in the 80s and the humidity will gradually lower.

Monday should be slightly cooler than normal with comfortable humidity but there still will be a low chance of an afternoon or evening shower.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be quite warm to hot with showers and thunderstorms possible Wednesday afternoon or at night as a cold front crosses the area.

Comfortable temperatures and humidity Thursday through the beginning of the weekend with only a chance of showers on Friday as another weak cold front crosses our area.

Today will be an active day with a heat advisory in effect likely followed by some strong thunderstorms that may cause flooding along with strong gusty winds, highs today will be near 90. A flash flood watch is in effect for late this afternoon and at night with 1-2 inches of rain likely with higher amounts possible.

The forecast for Sunday is a little more optimistic as the slow moving cold front moves to our east. Temperatures and humidity will lower and there is only a chance of some light showers in the afternoon and evening.

Another hot and humid day today as the Bermuda high continues to dominate our weather. We will have mostly sunny skies today with highs well up into the 90s and with dew points in the 70s will cause heat indexes to rise to over 100, there is a heat advisory in effect. There is a low chance of a thunderstorm late this afternoon or this evening.

A cold front will be in our area over the weekend and that will likely give our area showers each day and some may be heavy. Temperatures will be near 90 on Saturday but with more clouds Sunday will be slightly cooler but the humidity will remain high.

The cold front should move offshore on Monday with less humid air but still a risk of a shower and thunderstorm.

Seasonable temperatures Tuesday through Thursday with only a low chance of afternoon or evening showers Tuesday and Wednesday, humidity should be moderate.

A Bermuda high pressure ridge will dominate our weather today giving us plenty of sunshine and hot and humid conditions. High temperatures will reach the low 90s and with high humidity will cause heat indexes in the upper 90s. There is only a slight chance of an afternoon or evening shower but most places will stay dry.

Friday looks to be slightly hotter and more humid with heat indexes reaching 100 degrees or more. There is a somewhat better chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm. A heat advisory is in effect for both today and on Friday.

Yesterday we had flash flood and thunderstorm watches for our area but the severe weather bypassed Clifton as only .32″ fell mainly in early morning thunderstorms. However flooding rains occurred north of us with over 3 inches of rain reported in Ringwood and Oak Ridge and there was even a tornado warning for the Wanaque area. Even more severe flooding rains were in the Burlington county area with reports of more than 7′ of rain fell mainly in just 2-3 hours.

Today’s weather will be much quieter with only a low chance of a shower. With more clouds and an onshore wind high temperatures today will only reach around 80 degrees.

The front to our south will move to our north on Wednesday bringing back warmer and more humid air along with mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

Thursday will be hot but with slightly less humid air and it is the only day with no rain expected this week.

Unsettled weather Friday through the weekend with showers and thunderstorms possible each day. High temperatures should be near 90 on Saturday but only in the mid 80s on Sunday.
