Our area has cloudy skies early on this Tuesday morning and there are some showers in the area, temperatures are unseasonably mild with readings ranging from around 70 in the Clifton area to the mid 60s further inland, winds are gusty out of the south.   These early morning temperatures are nearly 30 degrees above normal.

A slow moving front extends from a deep low pressure located over the Great Lakes.  Showers heavy at times today and tonight with gusty winds, temperatures will rise  into the low 70s and the humidity will be high.  Rainfall amounts will average 1-3 inches.

Cooler and less humid on Wednesday, we should see clearing during the day but there is a chance of a shower in the afternoon.

Cool on Thursday will still a low chance of an afternoon shower.

Dry Friday and Saturday with seasonably mild temperatures.

Another frontal system may cause more significant rain Sunday into Monday morning.

THE FORECAST:

TONIGHT – Cloudy with showers and possibly a thunderstorm, rain may be heavy at times, low in the upper 50s.

WEDNESDAY – OCT 25 – Mostly cloudy, cooler and less humid, chance of an afternoon shower, high in the upper 60s.

THURSDAY – OCT 26 – Partly sunny with a chance of an afternoon shower, high in the low 60s.

FRIDAY – OCT 27 – Sunny, high in the mid 60s.

SATURDAY – OCT 28 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 60s.

MARINE FORECAST:  A gale warning is in effect until 7 p.m. this evening for south-southeast winds gusting to 35 knots, seas 6-9 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft conditions continuing Wednesday into Thursday morning;  no advisories expected Thursday afternoon through Saturday.

MONDAY  OCTOBER 23, 2017   5:54 A.M.

We have mostly cloudy skies early on this Monday morning and temperatures are mild with readings ranging from the upper 50s in the Clifton area down to around 50 further inland, winds are mainly calm.

Today we will have considerable cloudiness as high pressure moves off the coast and a front approaches from the west, temperatures will still be quite mild but with the clouds highs today will be a couple of degrees lower than on Sunday.  Humidity will increase today as dew points rise into the 60s.     Mild tonight with some drizzle possible.

Heavy rain and wind is likely on Tuesday as the front comes closer and low pressure moves up along the coast.   Rain should begin by daybreak and last through the day and at night, rainfall amounts will average 2-3 inches with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.  It will be quite mild and humid as dew points rise to near 70.  Winds will be gusty out of south with speeds above 30 mph.

Showers should end early on Wednesday followed by sunshine and cooler temperatures and lower humidity.

Cool on Thursday as high pressure builds into the area.

Milder Friday into the day on Saturday but we should remain dry.

A cold front may cause showers Saturday night into Sunday.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Sunday morning and once again there is a wide spread in temperatures ranging from around 50 in the Clifton area down to the mid 30s further inland, some valleys are reporting patchy fog.

Today we will have mostly sunny skies and high temperatures once again will be well up into the 70s as high pressure dominates our weather.

More clouds on Monday with even a chance of some afternoon drizzle as the humidity rises, temperatures once again will be well above normal.

A slow moving front will cause rain on Tuesday, it will continue to be quite mild and become humid, winds will increase from the south.  Rainfall amounts are expected to average 1.5 to 3 inches.

Still some showers on Wednesday with cooler temperatures.

Thursday will be the coolest day of the week with highs around 60 which is near normal for this time of year.

Dry Friday and Saturday and once again temperatures will be above normal.

SATURDAY  OCTOBER 21, 2017  5:52 A.M.

Skies are clear early on this Saturday morning and with calm winds there is a significant spread in temperatures ranging from the mid 50s here in Clifton down to the mid 30s in some of the inland valleys, in fact Walpack has dipped to 32 degrees.

Today we will again have plenty of sunshine as high pressure is over the area, temperatures will rise to well up into the 70s with some 80 degree readings possible.

A little more high cloudiness on Sunday will keep temperatures slightly cooler  but still well above normal.

Monday should stay dry and quite mild.

A slow moving front with low pressure moving along the front west of our area will cause rain on Tuesday, temperatures will continue to be mild, rainfall amounts will average around 1 inch.

We should clear out by Wednesday afternoon with temperatures falling closer to normal by Thursday.

FRIDAY  OCTOBER 20, 2017  5:50 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Friday morning and temperatures are milder than the last couple of morning ranging from the mid 50s in the Clifton area down to around 40 further inland, winds are mainly calm, also there is some patchy fog in some of the inland valleys.

High pressure building behind a weak cold front will cause mostly sunny skies, winds will become northwest, temperatures will be similar to yesterday with highs in the 70s.

Mild and dry weather is expected to continue through the weekend into Monday, temperatures each day will continue to be well above normal.

A slow moving cold front will likely cause some well needed rain on Tuesday with showers  possibly continuing into Thursday, temperatures will be above normal Tuesday and Wednesday and drop to near normal on Thursday.
