Skies are mostly clear early on this Sunday morning and temperatures range from the upper 60s in the Clifton area down to some mid 50s in some of the inland valleys, winds are light.

Today we will have again plenty of sunshine and temperatures will reach record levels with highs near 90.

Dry weather will persist Monday into Tuesday, with an onshore flow temperatures will be slightly lower but it will become more humid.

A cold front will move through the area on Wednesday with some showers possible.

Cooler but dry weather is expected at the end of the week into next weekend.

THE FORECAST:

MONDAY – SEP 25 – Sunny and more humid, high in the upper 80s.

TUESDAY – SEP 26 – Early fog then becoming partly sunny, high in the low 80s.

WEDNESDAY – SEP 27 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 80s.

THURSDAY – SEP 28 – Partly sunny, high near 80.

FRIDAY – SEP 29 – Sunny, high in the low 70s.

SATURDAY – SEP 30 – Mostly sunny, high near 70.

MARINE FORECAST:  TODAY – North wind to 7 knots, seas 2 feet.  A small craft advisory is posted effective from 4 p.m. this afternoon until 6  p.m. Monday evening for high seas.

OUTLOOK – Small craft conditions for high seas from Hurricane Maria is expected Monday through Thursday.

TROPICS:  Hurricane Maria is north of the Bahamas, top winds of 110 mph.  Maria is expected to be just offshore of the Outer Banks on Wednesday then move sharply northeast away from the US mainland.    Hurricane Lee is in the middle of the Atlantic with top winds of 85 mph, Lee is not expected to affect any land areas.

SATURDAY  SEPTEMBER 23, 2017  5:46 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Saturday morning and temperatures are mild once again ranging from the upper 60s in the Clifton area down to mid 50s further inland, winds are light.

Today we will have plenty of sunshine and temperatures again rising into the 80s, humidity will be low with dew points in the 50s.

Warmer and more humid on Sunday, temperatures will approach the 90 degree mark and with dew points rising into the 60s it will feel more like the middle of August.

Most of this upcoming week will be warm with highs mostly in the 80s through Thursday.

A cold front will cross the area Thursday night or Friday possible accompanied by showers and followed by much cooler air for next weekend.

MARINE FORECAST:  A small craft advisory is in effect for high seas until 6 a.m. Sunday morning.  Today – Northerly winds to 20 knots, seas 3-6 feet.  Dangerous rip currents are expected.

OUTLOOK – Advisories expected to be continued Sunday through Wednesday as swells from Hurricane Maria affect the coastline.

TROPICS:  Hurricane Maria is located north of the Bahamas with top winds of 120 mph, Maria is expected to come northward and brush the Outer Banks of North Carolina and then move northeast well away from the Mid-Atlantic coast.

FRIDAY  SEPTEMBER 22, 2017  5:46 A.M.

Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Friday morning and temperatures are still mild for this time of year ranging from the mid 60s in the Clifton area down to the upper 50s further inland, there is a light northerly breeze.

High pressure is building into our area from the west as Jose further weakens about 250 miles east of the New Jersey coastline.  Some high clouds from Jose will still be around but we should see mostly sunny skies along with warm temperatures.

Even warmer this weekend with mostly sunny skies temperatures both days will be well up into the 80s with a 90 degree reading possible on Sunday.  High surf will remain through the weekend.

Very warm weather and mainly dry conditions will continue into next week with a possible cooling trend by next Friday as a cold front sweeps through.

OUTLOOK – Small craft condtions for high seas expected to continue into at least early next week.

TROPICS – Post-tropical storm Jose is southeast of Cape Cod and is nearly stationary with highest winds of 50 mph,  Jose is expected to meander off the coast this weekend and slowly weaken further.     Hurricane Maria is just east of Grand Turk Island, Maria is a catagory 3 hurricane with top winds of 125 mph,  Maria is expected to move north well away from the U.S. mainland and weaken as it moves over colder waters.

THURSDAY  SEPTEMBER 21, 2017  5:42 A.M.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Thursday morning and once again temperatures are unseasonably mild ranging from around 70 in the Clifton area down to 60 further inland, winds are light from the north.

Today we will have more sunshine as high pressure builds over the area and the weakening remains of Tropical Storm Jose moves further offshore, temperatures will rise into the 80s.

High pressure will be in control of our weather tomorrow through early next week continuing the unseasonably warm temperatures along with dry condtions.

The next chance of showers will be on Wednesday.

OUTLOOK – Small craft condtions for high seas expected to continue through the weekend.

TROPICS:  Tropical storm Jose with top winds of 60 mph is moving slowly northeast but is expected to stall or move slowly westward while weakening further.

Hurricane Maria with top winds of 115 mph is northeast of the Dominican Republic and is expected to reach the southeast Bahamas tomorrow.  The latest computer models then have Maria move northward well away from the United States mainland with the only affects would be high surf along the shoreline.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 20, 2017  5:50 A.M.

We have mostly cloudy skies early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are again quite mild with readings near 70 in the Clifton area down to the mid 60s further inland, these temperatures are more than 15 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Jose is expected to drift slowly to the northeast today, we should see more sunshine especially over the inland areas, temperatures will rise into the low 80s.

Mainly dry and warm weather to continue through the weekend into early next week.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy in the evening then becoming partly cloudy, low in the mid 60s.

OUTLOOK – Small craft conditions are expected to continue through the weekend for high seas.

TROPICS:   Jose has weakened to a tropical storm with top winds of 65 mph, Jose is about 250 miles east of the Delaware coast and is expected to move slowly northeast today and then meander off our coast through the weekend.     Dangerous Hurricane Maria is approaching Puerto Rico now with top winds of 155 mph.   Maria is expected to cross Puerto Rico today.
