We have light rain falling early on this Saturday morning and temperatures are quite uniform. ranging from around 50 in the Clifton area to the mid 40s in some spots further inland; winds are light easterly.

Low pressure will move from off the Delaware coast to southeast of Long Island by tonight. while intensifying rain from this storm will become heavier by this afternoon before tapering off tonight, it will be cool with increasing winds.  Rainfall amounts will average around 1.5 inches with less across inland areas while more rain will fall along coastal areas.

The low pressure will slowly move further offshore on Mother’s Day; some showers are still possible especially in the afternoon but we should have some breaks of sunshine and temperatures will not be as cool but it still will be windy.

Monday will be dry but windy with near seasonable temperatures.

Warmer the rest of the week with mainly dry conditions, the warmest days should be Wednesday and Thursday with highs well up into the 80s.

TONIGHT – Rain heavy at times in the evening, ending by midnight, low in the mid 40s.

MARINE FORECAST:  Gale warning in effect till 6 a.m. on Sunday for northeast winds gusting to 40 knots, seas building to 7-12 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisories expected Sunday and during the day on Monday;  no advisories expected from Monday night into Wednesday.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Friday morning and temperatures range from the mid 40s in Clifton to some mid 30s further inland, winds are nearly calm.

Today we will have a cool day with increasing high clouds as a weak high pressure moves off the coast.

A rather strong low pressure will cause rain to develop before daybreak on Saturday and becoming moderate to heavy at times in the afternoon and night. It will be chilly with high temperatures only reaching the 50s.  Rainfall amounts should average from 1-2 inches.

The low pressure will move slowly away on Sunday but we should still have a good chance of showers; temperatures will not be as chilly as on Saturday, and we may see some sunshine by Sunday afternoon.

High pressure will build into the area next week, it will be mainly dry with finally warmer temperatures with readings into the 80s by Wednesday.

THURSDAY  MAY 11, 2017   5:50 A.M.

We have mostly clear skies early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are a little chilly, ranging from the mid 40s in Clifton to some mid 30s inland; winds are mainly calm.

Today we will start off sunny but we should see an increase in clouds by this afternoon, high temperature may be similar to yesterday maybe a degree or two higher.

Friday will be a cloudy day and with an onshore wind it will be cool with most highs in the 50s.

A strong low pressure is expected to develop off the Delaware coast and move slowly north. Rain from the system should begin before sunrise on Saturday and become heavy at times with increasing northeast winds, temperatures will be quite chilly; rainfall amounts will average between 1-3 inches.

Rain will taper off to showers for Mother’s Day, temperatures will not be as chilly as Saturday but still be below normal.  The average high temperature for this time of year is around 70 degrees.

Most of next week looks to be dry with warmer temperatures.

WEDNESDAY  MAY 10, 2017  5:54 A.M.

Skies are mostly cloudy early on Wednesday morning and temperatures range from the upper 40s in the Clifton area to the upper 30s further inland. Winds are mainly calm.

Weak high pressure will be in control of our area weather today through Friday with dry conditions and seasonably cool temperatures.

A strong low pressure is expected to develop off the Virginia coast late Friday night and slowly move up the coast. This will cause rain to spread over the area on Saturday and become heavy at times before tapering off Sunday afternoon; we should average around 1-3 inches of rainfall.

Showers may persist into Monday followed by a warming trend and mainly rainfree most of the rest of next week.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures range from the mid 40s in the Clifton area to some low 30s in parts of northwest New Jersey; winds are light northerly.

Today we will have partly sunny skies and temperatures will be a couple of degrees warmer than yesterday but still be below normal for this time of yea,r. There will be less wind so we should enjoy a nice spring day.

Seasonably cool weather will continue through Friday along with dry conditions.

A low pressure area expected to develop just offshore will likely give us some rain over the weekend, temperatures will continue to be cool.

A pattern change is expected next week with warmer spring weather likely.
