The low pressure that gave us the overnight rain will move to our east and rain should end around 7 a.m. followed by clearing by late this morning. Brisk westerly winds will develop and temperatures will be seasonably cool with highs mainly in the low 50s.

Mainly dry and unseasonably cool weather will persist tomorrow through the weekend as Canadian high pressure will be in control. There is a small chance of some flurries during the period mainly inland with brisk westerly winds. Lake affect snow squalls will cause feet of snow in the Buffalo area. High temperatures here will average in the 40s and low will average in the 20s.

At this point Thanksgiving Day looks to be dry with milder temperatures.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures have fallen to coldest so far this season with early readings ranging from 32 degrees in Clifton down to a chilly 19 at Walpack. Winds are mainly calm or light northerly.

NOTE: On this day in 2018 we received over 6 inches of snow most of it during the evening commute which caused massive traffic delays.

Today we will have increasing cloudiness as a low pressure system approaches from the southwest. Rain from this system will begin around 6 p.m., inland across parts of the higher elevations the precipitation may start as a mixture of snow and sleet and may cause some accumulations before changing to rain late tonight.

The rain should end by noon on Wednesday followed by clearing in the afternoon.

Mainly dry and unseasonably cool weather Thursday through the weekend with most highs mostly in the 40s and overnight lows in the 20s.

High pressure continues to build into our area from the upper Mid-west and we will have a northwest flow, temperatures will be chilly with highs mainly in the upper 40s despite sunny skies.

Tomorrow will start off mostly clear and we may have our first below freezing temperature in the early morning. Increasing cloudiness during the day with rain developing at night continuing into Wednesday morning. Some of the higher elevations of northwest New Jersey may have a mixture of snow, sleet and rain.

After the storm passes cool high pressure will then build into our area Thursday and should dominate our weather through the weekend. Temperatures through this period will be unseasonably cool.

The weak disturbance offshore will move away this morning and showers should end by 7 a.m.; skies should become partly sunny by this afternoon as high pressure builds into our area from the northwest. Northwest winds will become a little brisk by this afternoon. High temperatures will be near seasonably levels with highs in the low to mid 50s.

Mainly dry Monday through the day on Tuesday but it will be cool with highs both days in the 40s with overnight lows near or slightly below freezing.

A low pressure area will give us rain Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon; some mixture of snow and rain is possible across the higher elevations over northwestern New Jersey.

Chilly but dry weather is expected Thursday through the weekend and below normal temperatures should continue into Thanksgiving week, quite a change from the unseasonably warm weather of the past several days.

Some showers are falling in parts of the area early on this Saturday morning and it is remarkably warm and humid, in fact we already have a record high temperature for the date here with a reading of 71 degrees at 3:30 a.m. The temperature has dropped a little to 68 degrees at 5 a.m., the lowest reading now is at High Point with a reading of a mild 64 degrees.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR NOVEMBER 12TH:

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 68 LOW: 54 PRECIPITATION: 1.16″

The remnant low of Nicole is moving through western parts of Pennsylvania as a cold front approaches from the west. Showers with this system should end by 7 a.m. with clearing skies by this afternoon. Temperatures will stay quite mild with highs in the low 70s but the humidity will drop.

A weak disturbance along the front offshore will give our area a chance of light rain late tonight into Sunday morning followed by clearing, breezy and much cooler air. Highs will only reach the low 50s.

Chilly most of next week with the best chance of rain being Tuesday night into Wednesday as a weak coastal storm moves offshore. Some of the rain may be mixed with snow at the higher elevations across northwest New Jersey.
