Near record warmth to continue today! Quite mild again on Saturday with showers in the afternoon and evening! Cooler and dry on Sunday!


FRIDAY FEBRUARY 24, 2017  5:55 A.M.

It is a quite mild early Friday morning with partly cloudy skies, temperatures range from the mild low 50s in the Clifton area to the low 40s further inland, winds are mainly calm.  Two years ago on this date the temperature dropped to a frigid -1 degree, this morning it is more than 50 degrees higher.

Yesterday we reached a record high for the date when the mercury rose to 69 degrees which was also the warmest of any day in February in  20 years.   Today may even be a little warmer as temperatures are expected to climb to the low 70s which is normal for the middle of May.

A strong cold front will cross the area late Saturday afternoon, very mild ahead of the cold front but with more clouds the temperatures may be a few degrees cooler than today.  The cold front will be accompanied by showers and possibly a thunderstorm with gusty winds.

Much cooler on Sunday as temperatures fall back to near seasonable levels, it will also be windy especially in the morning, skies should be mostly sunny.

The next chance of some rain will be Tuesday afternoon through Thursday morning as a couple of fronts will be moving through the area, temperatures will moderate to above normal before dropping off to near normal readings by the end of next week.

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 23, 2017  6:00 A.M.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Thursday morning and with calm winds there is a wide range of temperatures ranging from the low 40s in the Clifton area to near 30 further inland, there is some dense fog mostly over southern coastal areas.

Today we will have a mix of clouds and sunshine, temperatures will reach the mild 60s and with enough sunshine a 70 degree reading is possible.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy and mild with some drizzle and fog possible in this humid airmass.

Friday will be very mild once again with readings well up into the 60s but there will be considerable cloudiness with some drizzle possible mainly in the early morning and again Friday night.

A cold front will cross the area Saturday afternoon, ahead of the front it will be very mild once again with readings in the 60s.  Rain showers are likely mainly in the afternoon and night with even a possible springlike thunderstorm

Much cooler on Sunday but we should remain dry.

Unsettled weather early next week as a frontal system will be in our area, some showers are possible but no significant rain is expected, temperatures although cooler will still be above normal.

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 22, 2017  5:58 A.M.

Skies are cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and there are some light showers across the Poconos and the Hudson Valley, temperatures with the cloud cover are pretty uniform ranging from around 40 in the Clifton area to the mid 30s further inland, winds are light southerly.

We will have some sunshine by this afternoon after early morning cloudiness, temperatures will rise to near 60 and with light winds it will feel quite comfortable.

Quite mild temperatures Thursday and Friday with some record highs possible as highs reach well up into the 60s, it will be mainly dry but there is a low chance of some drizzle or light rain on Friday as a backdoor cold front will be in the area.

The next chance of significant rain will be with a cold front on Saturday, there may be some drizzle early then rain is likely Saturday night and evening, ahead of the front temperatures will be very mild once again.

Mainly dry and cooler temperatures Sunday through early next week but most readings will still be slightly above normal.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures are cooler than the last few mornings ranging from around 30 in the Clifton area to some upper teens in the colder inland valleys, winds are mainly calm.

Today we will see an increase in clouds and with a light onshore wind temperatures will only reach the upper 40s which is still slightly above normal for this time of year.

Tomorrow will have mainly cloudy skies but the temperatures should rise well into the 50s, there is only a very slight chance of a light shower in the morning.

Record warmth is possible on Thursday as the mercury rises to near 70 along with mostly sunny skies.

The next chance of significant showers will be on Saturday as a cold front approaches the area, temperatures will continue to be quite mild.

Dry conditions Sunday and Monday along with cooler temperatures as readings should be closer to normal.

Skies are mostly clear early on this President’s Day morning and temperature are mild once again ranging from the low 40s in the Clifton area to around 30 in some of the inland valleys, winds are light out of the northwest.

After record breaking warmth yesterday today and Tuesday will be cooler but we should remain dry.

A warm front will cause a chance of  showers Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning followed by milder air on Wednesday.

Record breaking warmth is again expected Thursday and possibly into Friday with dry conditions.

A cold front will likely cause some showers on Saturday with cooler and dry weather on Sunday.
