Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning and there are some light showers in parts of the area. Temperatures are still mild with readings ranging from 55 in Clifton down to 46 at High Point. Winds are from the north around 5-10 mph. The air quality is good with an index of 20.

NOTE: Today is the 11th anniversary of Hurricane Sandy and the 12th anniversary of the October snowstorm that dumped around 6 inches of snow that caused many power outages due to the snow falling on trees that still had most of their leaves.

After the record breaking warmth of the last few days, today will be much cooler as a front has moved to the south and a northerly flow of cooler air will be with us, temperatures will be steady or fall throughout the day. Also periods of mostly light rain will develop and continue through this evening.

Monday will still be cloudy with light rain likely into the afternoon as the front will be in our area.

High pressure will give us dry conditions during the day on Halloween but another disturbance may cause some rain late at night into Wednesday. Temperatures will be well below normal and some inland areas may have some snow mixed in Wednesday morning.

Dry conditions Thursday and Friday with widespread frost and or freezing tempertures both mornings.

Saturday at this time looks dry with moderating temperatures.

One last day of unseasonably warm weather as the high pressure off the coast gives us a southwesterly flow of warm and rather humid air. High temperatures should rise into the lower 80s with dew points near 60. Skies will start off partly sunny through mid-morning then become sunny. A cold front is expected to come through dry tonight.

Much cooler on Sunday with rain likely developing in the morning as a disturbance moves along a front to our south and continue into Monday, highs both days will only be in the 50s. It also looks to be the 8th straight weekend with some rain.

At this time the front that will give us rain will move far enough to our south so Halloween looks dry and cool, but another disturbance on the front will give us a chance of rain late at night into Wednesday. Temperatures will continue to be chilly. Some of the rain Wednesday morning may be mixed with snow well inland.

Dry weather is expected for Thursday and Friday but temperatures will continue to be below normal.

Yesterday’s 84 degrees broke the record for the date by 11 degrees and it was the warmest day so late in the season. My records began in 1973.

Today will be another warm day with record highs likely, skies will be mostly cloudy this morning but become mostly sunny this afternoon. High pressure continued off the southeast coast.

Another warm day with record highs again possible on Saturday but a cold front is expected to move to our south at night.

Much cooler Sunday and Monday as the front will be slow to move through the area and showers are likely especially Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.

Continued chilly on Halloween and there is a chance of rain as a weak disturbance may move up the coast.

Well below normal temperatures continue on Wednesday with again a chance of rain.

Clearing and cool weather is expected on Thursday.

High pressure off the southeast coast will give us a southwesterly flow of unseasonably warm air with record high temperatures likely. Skies will be mostly sunny.

A slow moving cold front will likely give us showers mainly Sunday afternoon through Monday. Temperatures will be lower with the clouds and precipitation, but still be above normal

Much cooler on Halloween and a weak disturbance may touch off some showers in the evening.

At this time Wednesday will be dry and quite chilly but some indications of a possible wave of low pressure that may develop, if that occurs there may be a cold rain or even some snow inland.

High pressure off the Carolina coast will give us a southwest flow of quite mild air, there may be some high clouds in the afternoon otherwise skies will be mostly sunny.

Record breaking warmth is likely Thursday through Saturday as the high pressure offshore continues to give us a southwest flow. High temperatures each of these days will be near 80 with also an increase in humidity.

A cold front will give us a chance of showers Sunday and Monday, temperatures will be lower but still be above normal.

Dry, chilly and windy weather is expected for Halloween!
