Skies are partly cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. are around 10 degrees warmer than this time yesterday with readings ranging from 37 in Clifton down to 26 at Walpack. Winds are light from the west.

A weak cold front came through early this morning but today will be mild with highs near 50 with light winds.

A disturbance and cold front will cross the region tonight giving us a chance of light showers that may be mixed with snow well inland.

High pressure will then give us dry conditions Thursday and Friday but it will be chilly, especially on Friday when early lows will be in the teens and rise only to 30s during the day.

Milder weather over the weekend but some showers are likely on Sunday, highs on Saturday will be in the 40s with mostly cloudy skies with highs up to the low 60s on Sunday.

Unsettled weather early next week with a chance of showers but it will be quite mild.

February’s average temperature was 35.4 degrees which is around 2 degrees milder than normal. The highest temperature was 69 on the 23th, the lowest was 13 degrees recorded on the 6th, 14th and 15th. Precipitation was near normal with 3.20″. Snowfall was well below normal with 3.6″, last February we had 35.5″

SUMMARY FOR THE WINTER MONTHS DECEMBER THROUGH FEBRUARY:

This winter month’s average temperature 35.1 degrees which was above normal. Precipitation was below normal with 7.96 inches. Snowfall was below normal with 18.2″ accumulating.

Today will be a mostly cloudy and milder day as high pressure moves offshore and a weak cold front approaches our area from the northwest. Highs will be around 10 degrees higher than yesterday but southerly winds will become a little gusty this afternoon.

The weak cold front will move through tonight with a slight chance of some sprinkles followed by mostly sunny and mild conditions on Wednesday.

A somewhat stronger cold front will cross the area Wednesday night with another slight chance of sprinkles or flurries followed by a strong northwest flow of colder air on Thursday. Friday will be mostly sunny and cold with diminishing winds.

Milder air will be with us over the weekend with showers likely Saturday night into Sunday. Showers will still be likely on Monday. High temperatures expected to be in the 40s on Saturday, 50s on Sunday and well up into the 60s on Monday.

High pressure building from the Great Lakes will give us a northwest flow of cold air today despite plenty of sunshine. Winds will be gusty this morning but diminish by this afternoon.

High pressure building into the area from the middle of the country will give our area a partly sunny day with cold temperatures as highs will only be in the 30s.

A southwest flow of air will provide milder temperatures on Sunday ahead of a cold front, but the winds will pick up and gust to above 30 mph. The cold front will come through late in the day with only a slight chance of flurries but most places will remain dry.

Mainly dry next week with temperatures averaging a little below normal.

Looking further ahead it looks like milder weather will be with us next weekend.
