Frigid but dry today and on Monday! Rain likely on Tuesday beginning as a wintery mix! Chances of rain and mild Wednesday through Friday!

After yesterday’s snow, temperatures this morning have fallen to the mid teens in the Clifton area to the single digits in some inland areas and with northwest wind to 10 mph makes it feel even colder.

Yesterday here in Clifton we picked up 4″ of snow, less snow fell across northwest New Jersey where only  1 or 2″ accumulated while parts of southern part of the state received 10″.

Today will be a dry day and despite partly sunny skies temperatures will only reach the low to mid 20s. There will be a slight chance of flurries inland.   Tonight with clear skies and light winds we will have low temperatures in the single digits in most of the area.

A low pressure will approach the area on Tuesday, a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain should occur before changing to all rain Tuesday night as warmer air moves in.

Mild Wednesday through Friday but with a few chances of light rain or showers.

Cooler next weekend but temperatures should still remain above normal..

Some snow likely this afternoon! Very cold through Monday! Mild weather Wednesday through at least next weekend!

Skies are cloudy early on this Saturday morning and temperatures range from the low 20s in Clifton to the mid teens further inland.

The low pressure that we have been tracking will move well off the coast but will likely give us snow this afternoon which will end this evening, in the Clifton area expect a 1-3 inch accumulation but much more across southern New Jersey and Long Island with only flurries across northwest sections of New Jersey.  Temperatures will be quite cold with highs only in the 20s so the snow will be light and fluffy.

Very cold Arctic air will be with us tomorrow and on Monday and highs will again be only in the 20s with overnight lows well down in the teens.

A moderating trend will start on Tuesday but we should likely see some rain late Tuesday night into Wednesday, the rain may begin as a mix of freezing rain and sleet inland.

Mild air will continue at the end of next week with a chance of rain Thursday and Friday.

Have a good day!

Light snow ending this morning! Chances for snow on Saturday increasing! Quite cold through early next week!

Light snow is ending across the area early on this Friday morning and temperatures range from the mid-upper 20s, winds are light, about an inch of snow accumulated here in Clifton.

The low pressure that brought the light snow is moving offshore and a weak high will give us clearing during the day it will be chilly with highs in the 30s.

Computer models now have the second wave of low pressure to be closer to the coast than was indicated yesterday so the chances of snow have increased for Saturday, it is possible that we may pick up a couple of inches of accumulation with much more across Long Island and southern New Jersey with much less as you head further inland, regardless if it snows or not it still will be very cold with highs only in the 20s.

Cold Arctic high pressure will be in control of our weather for Sunday and Monday with dry conditions over the area, highs will be mainly in the 20s with overnight lows in the lower teens.

Not as cold on Tuesday but another low pressure system will likely give us precipitation Tuesday night into Wednesday mainly in the form of rain as warmer air moves into the area but may start as a wintery mix.

A pattern switch will cause much above normal temperatures for an extended period starting on Wednesday and may last through January 20th with many highs in the upper 40s to the 50s each day.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Cloudy this morning then becoming partly sunny, high in the mid 30s.

TONIGHT – Partly cloudy, low in the upper teens.

SATURDAY – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow, high in the upper 20s.

SUNDAY – Mostly sunny and quite cold, high only in the mid 20s.

MONDAY – Mostly sunny, high near 30.

TUESDAY – Mostly cloudy, high in the upper 30s, chance of rain after midnight.

WEDNESDAY – Rain likely in the morning then becoming partly sunny, mild with highs in the low 50s.

THURSDAY – Partly sunny, high in the upper 40s.

MARINE FORECAST:  TODAY – Northwest winds to 14 knots, seas 1-2 feet.

OUTLOOK – A gale watch as been posted from noon on Saturday till midnight.  Advisories to continue on Sunday; no advisories expected Monday and Tuesday.

Have a good day!

Dry and colder today! Light snow to affect morning commute tomorrow! Very cold air for the weekend!

Skies are mostly clear early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are colder than the last couple of mornings ranging from the mid 20s in Clifton to the upper teens further inland, these readings are close to normal for this time of year, winds are gusty from the west.

Today we should start off sunny but should see some increasing cloudiness this afternoon, high temperatures will be mainly in the mid 30s which is slightly below normal, winds will diminish and become light by this afternoon.

A weak disturbance will cause a period of light snow mainly falling after midnight and ending by around 9 a.m., accumulation should be around an inch with slightly higher amounts to ours south and east.

Very cold weather for the weekend but we should remain precipitation free as another low pressure moves off the southeast coast, areas to our south across southeast sections of Virginia and eastern North Carolina will see significant snow.

Very cold and dry on Monday as a cold Arctic airmass will be over us.

Quickly moderating temperatures on Tuesday with the next chance of precipitation will be Tuesday night into Wednesday which at this time looks to fall as rain possibly beginning as a wintery mix.

TODAY – Increasing cloudiness, high in the mid  30s.

TONIGHT – Snow likely mainly after 10 p.m., low in the mid 20s.

Have a nice day!

Sunshine returns today with mild temperatures but becoming windy! Colder tonight through early next week! Chance of light snow Friday morning!

Skies are cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are mild ranging from near 40 in the Clifton area to the mid 30s further inland, winds are light.

Drier air will move into the area this morning and we should have mostly sunny skies, temperatures will rise into the 50s.  A cold front will move through this afternoon with windy and colder air behind the front, temperatures will fall into the 40s by sunset and drop into the 20s by daybreak on Thursday.

Thursday will be a dry and cold day with slowly diminishing winds.

A wave of low pressure will give us a good chance of light snow on Friday morning, at this time accumulations will be light with only a coating to possibly and inch with lower amounts inland.

Continued quite cold over the weekend and a second wave will be moving off the coast, at this time it appears that this system will stay well offshore but it still bears watching as the latest European model has the storm closer to the coast.

After a very cold Monday temperatures moderate on Tuesday and looking ahead to the long range it appears most of the rest of next week will be mild.
