Skies are mainly clear early on this Wednesday morning and with calm winds there is a wide range in temperatures with readings ranging from 23 in Clifton down to 11 at Walpack. The air quality is moderate with an index of 54.

High pressure over New England will give us a light onshore flow of seasonably cold air, winds will be light and skies will be mostly sunny.

A frontal system will approach our area on Thursday which will cause increasing cloudiness during the day with light rain likely after midnight continuing into Friday morning. Rainfall amounts will be around 1/4 of an inch. It will be mild with high temperatures approaching the 50 degree mark.

High pressure then builds into the area for Saturday as the storm moves off the New England coast. Temperatures will be cold with highs only in the 30s and with a brisk wind it will make it feel even colder despite mostly sunny skies.

The cold air will be short lived as the high pressure moves off the coast and Sunday will be several degrees higher than Saturday with less wind.

Milder early next week with a chance of showers on Tuesday.

Strong high pressure to our north will give us a mostly sunny and seasonably cold day with light winds.

Wednesday will again be mostly sunny with highs a couple of degrees higher than today.

The high pressure will move off the coast on Thursday as a low pressure system approaches from the west. Increasing clouds and mild during the day with rain developing around midnight and continuing through Friday morning. At this time rainfall amounts should be less than a half of an inch.

Behind the storm gusty northwest winds will bring colder air on Saturday. Sunday will continue to be dry with moderating temperatures.

Much of next week looks to be quite mild.

Weak high pressure will give us a sunny day today with high temperatures about the same as yesterday but with much less wind so it will not feel as chilly.

High pressure should dominate our weather Tuesday through Thursday. Temperatures will be slightly below normal on Tuesday then near or slightly above normal Wednesday and Thursday.

A frontal system will likely give us precipitation on Friday but at this time it should be just in the form of rain. This system should not be that strong with only light to moderate rain expected.

High pressure will then dominate our weather for the weekend. Temperatures will likely be slightly below normal on Saturday and slightly above normal on Sunday.

Yesterday’s storm had a stationary front only about 10-15 miles wide just to our south extending from Bucks County Pa. through the Raritan Bay area where snowfall rates of 4″ an hour occurred with total accumulations of a foot. Outside the band most of the accumulations were much lighter.

The storm that gave us the snow yesterday has moved off the Nova Scotia coast as high pressure will be building from the south. We will have sunny skies with a brisk wind gusting to 30 mph at times. Temperatures will be slightly below normal with most highs in the upper 30s.

Quiet and dry weather with near seasonable temperatures Monday through the day on Thursday.

A low pressure area will give us a chance of rain Thursday night into Friday night followed by mainly dry and seasonably cold weather for next weekend.

Snow is falling across the area and there is about an inch of snow as of 5 a.m. Temperatures range from 28 in Clifton down to 21 at High Point. Winds are calm or light easterly. The air quality is good with an index of 41. Note that there has been a very heavy band of snow across parts of Middlesex County where 2-3 inch per hour rates have occurred with totals there approaching 10 inches.

The low pressure that is giving us snow will be moving offshore today and most of the snow will end by late morning with clearing late this afternoon. Total accumulations of 2-4″ in our area with more just to our south.

Sunday will be a mostly sunny and breezy day with temperatures slightly below normal.

Dry weather with a slight increase in tempertures Monday through the day on Thursday.

A low pressure system may give us precipitation Thursday night into Friday but at this time it should be in the form of rain.
