Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Friday morning with some light showers in parts of the area, temperatures are mild ranging from around 60 in Clifton to the mid 50s further inland, winds are mostly calm.

A weak front that gave parts of the area showers overnight will be moving offshore and we should have clearing skies, with more sunshine temperatures will rise into the 80s.

Quite warm again on Saturday, there may be a shower in the morning and again in the evening but most places will remain dry.  A backdoor cold front should move through our area at night.

Much cooler with an onshore wind on Sunday.

Warmer again on Monday as a warm front moves back to our north there is a good chance of showers and thunderstorms at night.

Seasonably mild and mainly dry conditions for Tuesday and Wednesday but stronger storm will likely give us rain Thursday afternoon into Friday.

TUESDAY – MAY 2 – Chance of showers and a possible thunderstorm in the morning then becoming partly sunny, high in the low 70s.

WEDNESDAY – MAY 3 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 60s.

THURSDAY – MAY 4 – Partly sunny in the morning then becoming mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 60s.

MARINE FORECAST:  Small craft advisory in effect until 1 p.m. for high seas, winds south-southwest to 7 knots, seas 3-5 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Saturday and Sunday but small craft advisories likely for Monday and Tuesday for winds and seas.

THURSDAY  APRIL 27, 2017  5:51 A.M.

We have cloudy skies early on this Thursday morning and there is some fog and drizzle in the area; temperatures are mild ranging from around 60 in Clifton to the mid 50s inland.

The low pressure that gave us the clouds and rain the last couple of days is moving further offshore and weakening as high pressure builds into the area, we should see some sunshine after some morning fog and drizzle, temperatures will be milder with highs near 70.

A weak and dissipating cold front will cross the area Friday morning possibly accompanied by a brief shower. A high pressure ridge will then build into the area giving us a warm day with plenty of sunshine.

Very warm on Saturday with highs reaching the middle 80s; a backdoor cold front will then cross the area at night giving us another low chance of a shower.

Sunday will be much cooler behind the cold front but we should remain dry.

The front will move back as a warm front on Monday giving us another warm day, but another cold front will approach the area at night likely accompanied by showers.

Fair and dry weather with seasonably mild temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday.

WEDNESDAY  APRIL 26, 2017  5:51 A.M.

It is cloudy over the area this morning with some drizzle or light rain falling, temperatures are mild ranging from the low 50s in Clifton to around 50 inland, winds are from the north around 10 mph.

The low pressure that gave us the heavy rain and wind yesterday is slowly moving up the coast and weakening, we can expect cloudy skies to persist today with periods of light rain or drizzle mainly this morning, temperatures will be slightly milder than yesterday.

We may see some breaks in the clouds on Thursday but it will remain mostly cloudy, temperatures will be milder.

High pressure will give us plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures Friday and Saturday with highs approaching the 80 degree mark both days.

Sunday now is expected to be cooler as a backdoor cold front will be moving to our south, daytime highs will only be in the 60s.

The front will pass to our north as a warm front on Monday followed by a cold front Monday night into Tuesday that may give our area some showers and thunderstorms.

TUESDAY  APRIL 25, 2017  5:53 A.M.

We have cloudy skies throughout the area this morning with some patches of drizzle or light rain, temperatures are ranging from around 50 in the Clifton area to the mid 40s further inland, winds are from the east-northeast around  10 mph.

A low pressure now off the North Carolina coast will move slowly northward, which will cause periods of light rain this morning, becoming steady and heavier this afternoon into this evening. Temperatures with the clouds and rain will only be in the 50s, and with a rather brisk onshore wind it will feel uncomfortable.

The low pressure will be weakening on Wednesday as it moves just offshore, giving us some lingering light showers; temperatures will not be as chilly.

Sunshine and warmer weather is expected from Thursday through the weekend although there is a low chance of a shower on Friday and again Sunday evening.  Saturday looks to be the warmest day of this period with highs well up into the 80s.

MONDAY  APRIL 24, 2017  5:48 A.M.

Early on this Monday morning skies are partly cloudy, temperatures range from the mid 40s in the Clifton area to the mid 30s further inland, winds are mostly calm.

High pressure will be moving off the coast as an area of low pressure slowly moves up the coast from the Carolinas.  This will cause skies to become cloudy today;  temperatures will be near seasonable levels with highs in the 60s.

The low pressure will cause periods of rain from after midnight tonight until Wednesday morning, with the steadiest and heaviest rain falling Tuesday afternoon and evening.  Temperatures will be cool on Tuesday with the onshore wind and clouds.

After early morning light rain on Wednesday we should see some breaks in the clouds in the afternoon with milder temperatures.

Much warmer air will move into the area on Thursday and be with us through the weekend with mainly dry conditions.
