Winter storm warning in effect; Snow then ice accumulating 6-8 inches!


Skies are cloudy in the Clifton area, temperatures are in the low 20s.
Snow has already developed which will fall lightly until the afternoon and then increase in intensity.
The heaviest snow will fall this evening before mixing with freezing rain and sleet late in the evening. Accumulations will average in the 6-8 inch range followed by up to 1/4 inch of ice.
The precipitation may change to all rain before ending early Sunday morning, followed by clearing with highs on Sunday near 40.
Cold and dry on Monday.
A weak disturbance will give us a chance of rain or snow showers on Tuesday.
Mainly dry weather for the middle and end of next week with a warming trend and it may hit the 50 degree mark by Friday!

Tonight – Snow, mixing with and changing to freezing rain and sleet late tonight and to all rain before ending early Sunday morning. temperatures rising to the low 30s. Total accumulation 6-8 inches.
Sunday – Rain ending by 9am then becoming partly sunny, high in the upper 30s.
Monday – Mostly sunny, high near 30.
Tuesday – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain or snow showers, high in the mid-upper 30s.
Wednesday – Sunny, high in the mid 30s.
Thursday – Partly sunny, high in the upper 30s.
Friday – Cloudy and milder, high near 50.

Marine forecast: Gale warnings in effect 6pm to 5am on Sunday. Today – East wind to 31 knots, seas 1 foot building to 5 feet by late today.
Outlook – Advisories may be needed through Monday morning then drop below advisory levels but may be needed again on Tuesday and Wednesday…

Winter storm watch issued for Saturday; Snow accumulations 6-8+ inches likely!


Temperatures this morning are mainly in the teens throughout the area, skies are mostly cloudy.
Today we will have partly sunny skies, temperatures will be a couple of degrees warmer than yesterday but still well below normal for this time of year.
A low pressure system will move into our area on Saturday with snow developing around 10am and continuing into Saturday night. The precipitation may mix with freezing rain and sleet before ending early Sunday morning.. Accumulations will average about 6-8 inches in the Clifton area with 8-10 inches further inland with a foot of snow not out of the question.
The system will move away on Sunday with clearing skies and seasonably cold temperatures.
Quiet weather pattern next week with little or no precipitation. Temperatures will start off cold on Monday moderating as the week goes on..

Very cold and dry Thursday and Friday; Snow on the weekend!


Another cold front moved through the area overnight accompanied by some snow flurries in the area. This front will be followed by a reenforcing surge of cold Arctic air. Temperatures have fallen into the teens and highs will not do any better than the upper 20s today despite having a mostly sunny day.
After a very cold night tonight Friday will be a couple of degrees milder with temperatures reaching the freezing mark.
Still tracking the storm for the weekend, as it appears now snow will begin around noon on Saturday and becoming steady and heavier Saturday night, the precipitation may change to rain or freezing rain before ending on Sunday. At the present time it appears most of the area will have 4-6 inches of snow, still time to fine tune the details as we get closer to the event.
Clearing weather by Sunday afternoon.
No storms on the horizon so far for next week and we may see a slight moderation of temperatures as the week goes on..

Dry and cold the rest of the work week! Significant winter storm likely on the weekend!


We have clear skies this morning and cold temperatures as readings are near 20 degrees in the Clifton area with teens inland. Be careful going outside today since there may be icy spots on untreated sidewalks and roads. Yesterday I measured 3 inches of snow.
The rest of this work week will be dry and cold with highs near the freezing mark and lows in the teens.
Another winter storm is likely to affect our area on the weekend with the best chance of precipitation late in the day Saturday into Sunday morning.. The computer models have come in colder with this storm so most areas will experience snow that may change to rain along coastal areas but inland the snow may change to freezing rain. Too early for details on amounts.
After the storm we will have cold and dry weather into the early part of next week.

Quick moving storm will dump 3-5 inches of snow today followed by very cold weather the rest of the week!


Skies are cloudy in the area with most temperatures around around the 30 degree mark.
Snow is advancing toward us and should reach our area around 8am. Snow will becoming heavy at time especially 9am-2pm with a quick 3-5 inches of inches expected. The storm will be out of here by this evening with most snow over by 4pm.
Colder weather will follow the storm for the rest of the week with most high temperatures barely reaching the 30 degree mark and lows in the teens.
The next shot of precipitation is with a storm moving into the area on Saturday, at the present time it appears that it will be a snow changing to rain situation.
Clearing on Sunday and cold again early next week.
