Winter weather returns! Heavy snow expected over southern New Jersey with only a chance of flurries here! Sunny and cold on Tuesday! Chance of light snow and rain on Wednesday!

Good morning everyone!

Skies are cloudy early on this Monday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 31 in Clifton down to 24 at High Point, these readings are around 20 degrees colder than yesterday but still 5-10 degrees above normal. Winds are northerly around 10 mph.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR JANUARY 3RD:

AVERAGE HIGH: 37 AVERAGE LOW: 22

RECORD HIGH: 62 – 1997 RECORD LOW: 4 – 2014

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 57 LOW: 35 PRECIPITATION: .02″

Winter weather has returned and after having temperatures well above normal the last few days today will be much colder with readings not rising much or at all from this morning’s temperatures. A strong low pressure is forming off the coast and promises to give the southern part of the state nearly a foot of snow with near blizzard conditions. There will be a sharp edge of the storm so our area should only see some flurries but the system should be watched just in case the precipitation moves further north than expected.

Finally a sunny day on Tuesday as high pressure builds from the west but it will be cold with morning lows around 20 and daytime highs in the 30s.

A weak disturbance will give us a chance of light rain or snow on Wednesday followed by partly sunny skies on Thursday, temperatures will moderate somewhat to slightly above normal.

Another stronger low pressure will give us a chance of rain or snow on Friday.

Saturday looks to be mostly sunny and cold and still another disturbance or cold front will give us another chance of rain or snow on Sunday.
