Beautiful day today; Stormy Wednesday; Cold and windy Thursday!

Skies are mostly cloudy this morning but temperatures are ranging form the low 40s in the Clifton area to the 30s further inland, much milder than last Tuesday morning when the temperatures were only in the single digits.

Today will be a very mild day with temperatures possibly reaching the 60 degree mark.

On Wednesday rain will develop around daybreak, temperatures will rise to the 50s. A cold front associated with a strong low pressure moving over us may cause some thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon or evening.  The front will be followed by much colder air with temperatures falling to the 20s by Thursday morning.  It now appears most of the precipitation will end before temperatures fall below freezing so no accumulating snow is expected.

Much colder and windy on Thursday with high temperatures staying below freezing.

The very cold weather will not last long as Friday we rise into the 40s.

The weekend should be dry, mild on Saturday and cooler on Sunday.

Cold and windy on St. Patricks day with some snow flurries possible.

The forecast: Today – Partly sunny, high in the upper 50s.

Tonight – Cloudy with a chance of rain developing before daybreak, low around 40,.

Wednesday – Rain with a chance of thunderstorms, high in the upper 50s.  Rain possibly changing to snow showers before ending early Thursday morning, temperatures falling to the 20s.

Thursday – Partly sunny and windy, high in the upper 20s.

Friday – Sunny, high in the low 40s.

Saturday – Partly sunny, high in the mid 50s.

Sunday – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

Monday – Mostly cloudy and windy with a chance of snow showers, high in the upper 30s.

Marine Forecast: Today – West wind gusting 20 knots, seas 2-3 feet.

Small craft advisory will be in effect Wednesday afternoon with a gale watch for Wednesday night through Thursday night.

Outlook – Sub-advisory level conditions Friday into Saturday.

Have a good day!

Dry and mild Monday and Tuesday! Mainly rain on Wednesday!

We have cloudy skies at daybreak this morning with rather mild temperatures with most readings in the 30s.  There are some flurries to our north and west but most areas are dry.

Today will be a mostly cloudy day but with mild temperatures reaching the 50 degree mark.

Tuesday will be the best day of the week and if you liked Saturday’s weather you will enjoy Tuesday’s upper 50s temperatures.

A storm will be moving into the area on Wednesday with rain developing in the morning with the precipitation changing to snow before ending on Thursday morning.  Still questions how much snow there will fall before the precipitation ends, the best chances at this time of accumulating snow will be just to our north and west.

Thursday will be a very unseasonably cold and windy day with highs mostly only in the upper 20s.

After a very cold Friday morning temperatures will moderate during the day.

Mainly dry and seasonably mild weather for the weekend.

Looking further ahead it appears that we will have a chilly but dry St. Patrick’s day.

The forecast: Today – Mostly cloudy, high near 50.

Tonight – Mostly cloudy, low in the upper 30s.

Tuesday – Partly sunny, high in the upper 50s.

Wednesday – Rain developing in the morning, high in the upper 40s.   Precipitation changing to snow before ending early Thursday morning.

Friday – Sunny, high in the low 40s.

Saturday – Partly sunny, high in the low 50s.

Sunday – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 40s.

Marine Forecast: Today – West-southwest winds to 12 knots, seas 2-3 feet.

Outlook: Small craft advisories likely on Wednesday, Gales on Thursday, back to small craft advisories for Friday.

Have a good day!

Much cooler today after yesterday’s very mild day!

Skies are clearing this morning and temperatures are mainly in the low 30s. Hopefully everyone has turned their clocks ahead or you will be one hour late.

Today temperatures will not rise that much despite mostly sunny conditions topping off in the lower 40s.

Milder air will return for Monday and especially Tuesday, there is a slight chance of showers Monday morning but most areas will remain dry.

A storm system will be moving into our area on Wednesday, latest indications that it will be a mostly rain event for the area with precipitation starting out of a mix of snow Wednesday morning then changing to rain, with the precipitation changing to snow before ending on Thursday morning. Too early to estimate any possible snow accumulations and it all depends on the storm’s track.

Clearing, colder and windy on Thursday with moderating temperatures on Friday.

The forecast: Today – Mostly sunny and cooler, high in the low 40s.

Tonight – Increasing clouds, low in the upper 20s.

Monday – Cloudy with a slight chance of morning showers, high in the upper 40s

Tuesday – Partly sunny, high in the upper 50s.

Saturday – Partly sunny, high in the upper 40s.

Have a good day.

Finally a mild day after a very cold beginning of March!

Skies have become clear early this Saturday morning and temperatures are not as cold as they have been with 30 degrees at daybreak in the Clifton area to the 20s further inland.

Today will be the mildest day in nearly two weeks as temperatures rise to near 50 degrees which is only about 4 degrees above normal for this time of year, skies will be partly cloudy.

A slight chance of rain or snow showers late tonight as a cold front moves across.  Sunday will be cooler in the low 40s.  Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour tonight or you will be late.

Another slight chance of rain or snow showers late Sunday night into early Monday.  It will remain cloudy on Monday with near seasonable temperatures.

Tuesday will be the mildest day of the upcoming week with highs reaching the mid 50s.

Still watching for a potential storm for Wednesday into Thursday.  The computer models are not in agreement this far out with the European model indicating a significant rain changing to snow event while the American model has most of the precipitation quickly moving offshore and only giving us either light rain or snow..

Clearing Thursday into Friday with below normal temperatures once again.

Looking further ahead it appears that mainly  below normal temperatures will continue through the third week of March,  St Patrick’s  Day looks to be quite chilly.

The forecast: Today – Partly sunny, high near 50.

Tonight – Partly cloudy with only a slight chance of a rain or snow shower, low around 30.

Sunday – Increasing cloudiness, high in the low 40s, slight chance a rain or snow shower at night.

Outlook – Sub-advisory level conditions Sunday through Tuesday with advisories possible again late Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Have a good day and again don’t forget to set your clocks.

Mainly dry with a moderating temperature trend the next few days!

Skies are cloudy early this morning and temperatures are not as frigid as the last few mornings with readings in the low to mid 20s, however single digits are being reported across some spots in Sussex County were the skies are still mostly clear.

A storm system will be passing to our south today giving rain as close as Southern New Jersey but it will stay dry in our area, temperatures will rise to near 40 degrees which is still below normal for this time of year.

Milder on Saturday despite considerable cloudiness as we may reach the 50 degree mark.

A little cooler on Sunday but remaining dry.

Mild and continued dry early next week.

The next good chance of any precipitation is with a storm system that will be moving through the southern states and then up the coast.  Still not sure of the track but most of the model guidance show colder air moving down from the north so if that is the case then we will have to deal with  some snow.  Once again the removal of the winter shower curtain will be put to another test.

The forecast:  Today – Mostly cloudy, high in the upper 30s.

Tonight – Partly cloudy, low in the mid 20s.

Saturday – Increasing clouds, high near 50.

Sunday – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.

Monday – Mostly cloudy, high in the upper 40s.

Tuesday – Mostly cloudy, high in the low 50s.

Wednesday – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow developing, high near 40.

Thursday – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow, high in the mid 30s.

Marine Forecast:  Small craft advisory in effect through Saturday evening for northeast winds to 30 knots, seas rising to 6-9 feet.

Outlook – Conditions below advisory levels Sunday through Tuesday!

Have a good day!

Another Arctic high today with much below normal temperatures; Milder and dry Friday through early next week!

Another frigid morning as temperatures have fallen to 12 degrees in the Clifton area to some single digits further inland and with gusty north winds some wind chill readings are below zero.  Skies are mostly clear.

Despite plenty of sunshine today temperatures will struggle to reach the 30 degree mark,  winds will diminish by this afternoon.

Not quite as cold tonight but still well below normal for this time of year..

Temperatures moderate on Friday and rise even further on Saturday with readings approaching the 50 degree mark.  There will be a storm system that may give rain to Southern New Jersey on Friday night before moving out to sea but northern areas should remain dry.

Dry and a little cooler on Sunday.

Milder again early next week.

Watching for a potential snowstorm late next week as winter doesn’t seem to want to go away quietly.

The forecast: Today – Mostly sunny, high near 30.

Tonight – Partly cloudy, low around 20.

Friday – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.

Saturday – Partly sunny, high near 50.

Sunday – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

Monday – Partly sunny, high in the upper 40s.

Tuesday – Partly sunny, high near 50.

Wednesday – Mostly cloudy, high in the low-mid 40s.

Marine Forecast:  Small craft advisory in effect through Saturday morning for northeast winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 3-6 feet.

Outlook – Winds and seas lowering to below advisory levels later Saturday which should extend into early next week.

Have a good day!

Quiet weather pattern the next several days!

With mostly cloudy skies this morning temperatures are nearly 15 degrees warmer than this time yesterday with readings in the lower 20s. The coldest readings in New Jersey are in the southern part of the state that have fresh snowpack.

Today will be partly sunny with highs about five degrees warmer than yesterday reaching the upper 30s which is still below normal for this time of year.  Clouds will increase towards evening with a slight chance of some flurries.

Thursday will be mostly sunny but a little colder as high pressure builds from the north.

Milder weather Friday through early next week with little or no precipitation expected which is good news as we can have a slow melt of our existing snowpack.

Looking at the long range it appears winter is not done yet as some of the computer models are showing a snowstorm around the 14th, of course this too far in the future especially seeing what eventually happened from the last storm the models indicating only a couple of days in advance.

The forecast:  Today – Partly sunny, high in the upper 30s.

Tonight – Mostly cloudy, low in the upper teens.

Thursday – Mostly sunny, high in the low 30s.

Friday – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

Saturday – Increasing cloudiness, high in the upper 40s.

Sunday – Mostly sunny and breezy, high in the low 40s.

Monday – Partly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

Tuesday – Mostly cloudy, high in the mid 40s.

Marine Forecast: Today – North-northeast wind to 9 knots, seas 1 foot building to 3 feet this afternoon.

Small craft advisory in effect from this evening through Thursday afternoon.

Outlook – Advisories are expected Thursday into Saturday.

Have a good hump day!

Record cold temperature in many areas of New Jersey this morning!

With clear skies and light winds the temperature in Clifton has fallen to 7 degrees which is a record low for March 4th.   Many areas even in Southern New Jersey are in the single digits. The coldest temperature in the state is -6 degrees at Walpack in Sussex County.

We escaped yesterday with only a few flurries in Northern New Jersey but up to 7 inches fell in the southern part of the state.

After the bitterly cold morning temperatures this afternoon will rise to near 30 degrees and with less wind it won’t feel as harsh as yesterday. Clouds will increase but no precipitation is expected.

We will have mostly cloudy conditions tonight through Thursday and temperatures will moderate somewhat but still remain well below normal.

Temperatures will rise to near normal Friday through the weekend with highs in the 40s.    The only chance of precipitation may be with some snow showers on Saturday night.

The forecast: Today – Partly sunny, high near 30.

Tonight – Mostly cloudy, low in the upper teens.

Wednesday – Mostly cloudy, high in the upper 30s.

Thursday – Mostly cloudy, high in the upper 30s.

Friday – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

Saturday – Partly sunny, high in the upper 40s, chance of snow showers at night.

Sunday – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

Monday – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

Marine Forecast: Today –  North winds to 11 knots this morning becoming light and variable this afternoon, seas 4 feet diminishing to 2 feet.

Outlook – Advisories likely Thursday through Saturday.

Have a good day!

Beware of some flurries this morning!

Temperatures this morning have fallen into the teens and there was a couple of flurries falling, winds are brisk.

Cold Arctic air as moved into the area and pushed the accumulating snow to our south,  so what looked to be a major snowstorm a couple of days ago has be reduced to only some early morning flurries for most of Northern New Jersey, Southern New Jersey may pick up 6-8 inches and even there it won’t be as bad as forecasters originally thought.

Tonight will be bitterly cold with lows in the single digits.

Dry with much below normal temperatures for tomorrow and Wednesday.

Slight moderation in temperatures as the week progresses, and we will watch another storm form offshore that may give us some snow Thursday night then changing to rain on Friday but at this time this storm it appears that this storm will be far enough offshore to cause any major problems.

Dry on the weekend with continued moderating temperatures but still slightly below normal for this time of year.

The forecast: Today – Cloudy with some morning flurries, high in the mid 20s.

Tonight – Mostly clear and very cold with diminishing winds, low around 10.

Tuesday – Partly sunny, high near 30.

Wednesday – Mostly cloudy, high in the mid 30s.

Thursday – Mostly cloudy, high around 40, chance of light snow at night.

Friday – Mostly cloudy with a chance of light snow changing to rain, high near 40.

Saturday – Partly sunny, high in the upper 40s.

Sunday – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

Marine forecast: Small craft advisory in effect through Tuesday morning for northerly winds to 30 knots, seas 4-7 feet.

Outlook – Below advisory level conditions Tuesday night through Wednesday evening, advisories again possible Wednesday night through Friday.

Have a good day!

The power of the winter shower curtain removal, we will be lucky if we get an inch or two of the white stuff!

Three days ago it appeared that we would be looking at a major snowstorm in the Clifton area but now indications are we are only going to receive about an inch or two tonight into Monday morning.   What the computer models did not pick up that Joan took down the winter shower curtain on February 20th and since then all the potential storms have not panned out.   If you don’t like snow please thank her for taking the curtain down.  While the shower curtain was up we received over 60 inches of snow this season and only about an inch since it is removal….
